Anyone recommend a twin travel system that is less than 73cm wide to fit through my narrow hallway?

Mountain buggy duet, bugagboo donkey, icandy peach blossom. These are quite pricey though, not sure if you have a budget to stick to??

I had a Powertwin when my twins were small. Was perfect for our ridiculously narrow hallway.

Well my lovely mum is forking out but I guess we wouldn't want to go too far over £1000. the price of these things has me reeling!

The mountain buggy, promenade and powertwin should all come in under £1000 with all the bits.

Jane are also bringing out the Twone, not sure how wide or what price this is going to be but it seemed to get rave reviews after the Harrogate show. You can fit 2 lie flat Matrix car seats on the frame. Think there is a review further down.

I've got the iCandy peach blossom, we have a Vicorian terrace.

ItsMyLastOne · 14/04/2012 18:08

I'd say peach blossom (but that's £785 for the blossom, £165 for the upper carrycot, £160 for the lower carrycot, £40 for each liner, £85 for each footmuff... It soon adds up!).

The mountain buggy duet could work well but is only forward facing when using the seats so you'd probably want the double carrycot. That'd be around £800-900 all in.

I wouldn't recommend the power twin as it needs at least one car seat to use it for newborn twins. Then once they outgrow the car seats the front seat is really upright for a small child. It pushes really well though.

The Jane Twone is worth a look but isn't out till about July.

Also the Oyster Max which should be out in around September so probably too late for you.

The B Dual is good (and a lot cheaper) but if you have a bigger budget you can do better than it.

I think I'd go for the Peach, Duet or Twone.

HypatiaTheProcrastinator · 14/04/2012 19:05

I was going to say Duet, Jane Twone, Oyster Max, Peach Blossom and possibly B-Dual too.

notfarmingatthemo · 15/04/2012 14:46

It would get the britax b-Dual with two soft carry-cots and 2 britax car seats.
The jane twone seats are only from 6mths so they are going to have to be in the matrix car-seat until then might be possible with the new issofix base for the car as that would make it easier to strap them in but they will get heavy and your back may not be as strong as pre pregnancy. oyster, and peach blossom also have seats from 6mths so folding up to get in the car you will also have 2 carrycots as well which will take up a lot of space. It is not good for babies to be in carseats for long periods.

The britax seats are from birth, the soft carycots are only to make in a bit snug. when they are bigger you could then get a light weight single (a good one) and a buggy board for when they are mostly walking or just a buggy board instead of the second seat.

Peach Blossom 2 :o but have a look at the Jane Twone - it's better than it initially looks - and Babystyle Oyster Max. I think the Britax B-Dual is the best currently available to buy, but any of the other three should outshine it by the end of the year.

ItsMyLastOne · 16/04/2012 09:23

I agree that with notfarmingatthemo that the B Dual is great how both seats are suitable from birth, and how you can fold easily with both seats on so possibly less faffing when they're tiny. Although you do need the soft carrycot on the bottom even if you don't have it at the top. That's because the bottom seat is very short, 54cm I believe, and doesn't offer the full body support you need for a newborn.

As happy as I am with our B Dual, I think if I were in your situation it's not the one I'd go for. But if you did go for it I think you'd be relatively happy with it.

The Oyster Max top seat will be suitable from birth, so you'd only need one carrycot.

If you're struggling to decide close to your due date, or if you want one that may not be out by the time you give birth, you could always buy a second hand B Dual to tide you over. If you did that, you could even wait till your twins are 6 months, sell the B Dual and buy any of the others that are only suitable from 6 months. Just a thought!

Tiggywunkle · 16/04/2012 10:51

There are definitely more choices after 6 months old eg Hauck Duett, Kidz Kargo Duellette, Hauck Free Rider, Kolcraft Contours etc
