Bugaboo Bee and Lascal Mini/Maxi buggyboard- good combo?

I need a buggyboard to attach to a Bugaboo Bee (the older version, not the plus one) and it seems on paper (well, on screen), the Lascal would fit the bill but I'd like some of your opinions. Is it easy to push? No awkward arms extensions? Does the head a a tall toddler get in the way? Is it confortable for them? And also I haven't been able to find the difference between the mini and maxi, any ideas?

Thanks Ladies!

Am also hoping to do the same. Do Bugaboo not do their own board? I think the Maxi is just bigger and fits a wider range of puschairs.

I read somewhere (probably on here actually) than the Bugaboo buggyboard sticks out quite a bit and makes it a bit akward to walk behind. I also need one that works on the BJCM which I'll be using when my youngest outgrows the Bee, hence the Lascal...

Oh we have the same two pushchairs! Yes I did a bit more research on the bugaboo one and it doesn't get good reviews. But I think the BJCM is meant to be poor fit for a buggy board in general as there is not really space for the toddler to stand.

I too am looking for a buggy board for my bee plus!

Someone with experience please answer this question....

This thread is going nowhere fast, never mind, I promise I'll report back if and when I get the Lascal.

Funny having the same pushchairs fishy! They are both great, can't imagine ever needing another one, although I did see the BJCM was not the greatest with a buggyboard.

I have gone for a mother care board will let you know how well it fits once I have figured out how to attach the thing!

Morning Smile

I've got a bugaboo chameleon which I tend to use with the carseat for my 4 month old when out in t'shops. My toddler loves charging about everywhere, but I am loathe to get a double buggy. We tried the bugaboo board in John Lewis a couple of weeks ago, and yes, it does stick out. Loads. I'd have to walk to the side to push it. Also my toddler would have to put her arms and hands out at a wonky angle to hold on. Great concept, very, very bad design. Even the John Lewis man said its not for everyone.
Hth!

Lascal is fab, both will fit, maxi and mini.

I also bought the bugaboo one to go on my cam and it was just awful. I bought the lascal maxi and an extra set of adaptors so I could use it on more than oine buggy. We are big big walkers, rarely use the car. I also used the maxi on my mountain buggy and more recently on the bee though mine is a plus.

The mini is a little smaller and I would have bought that one had I not wanted to use it on my other buggy.

I prefered it when ds was rf and could chat to me and dd though she had less to 'hang onto'. If he was ff then if I was going a bit too quickly and hit a bump or something she didn't 'lurch' but then maybe I should be going a bit slower!!

The only trouble I had was if ds was sleeping I could not put the seat down that much or dd had no room. We rarely use it now the ages they are but if your dc are younger, better to use the bee rf for sleeps than ff.

Overall, can't rate it hightly enough, my friend borrowed it to see if it would work for her and she bought one. As long as you can adjust the handles of your buggy it works really well. I could even as long as going in a straight line and not up and down kerbsc push with one hand and hold a brolly over dd and I whilst she was on the board.

fishym2b · 22/04/2012 17:20

Could you still hand a change bag on the handle bars? Or would it just end up hitting the toddler?

carrielou2007 · 22/04/2012 17:28

I struggled with a bag, it was a squeeze so I either stuffed it under the buggy or wore it over my shoulder. Otherwise yes it did keep hitting dd however I tried it, with bag clips, clipped just under the seat etc.

Update on this thread since I ended up getting the Lascal Maxi. Overall, it fits the purpose, my toddler is happy standing on it, with enough room for the head and not getting in the way. We also attached the board as close to the pushchair wheels as possible and-crucially- it means we can walk behind without our feet hitting the board (with the handlebar extended at full length). The only downside is that it does make the pushchair a lot heavier to handle, which is very noticeable as the bee is normally so easy to push and steer, so it becomes tiring on the wrists after a while. I assume this would be the case with any buggy board though.

Yes it is. I don't like the 'drag' a board puts on a pushchair and this gets worse as the child gets heavier.

carrielou2007 · 05/08/2012 21:43

I've using my board recently even though dd is a very tall 5.5 year old as I had an eye op 5 weeks ago meaning I'm not allows to drive. We are big walkers but have more days out meeting friends at park 50 min walk away that dd just would not manage there, play and back.

I've been using my mb though I did feel bee+ felt it would 'snap' obs wouldn't 't normally have such a big child on it but needs must!!

Hi marenostrum... I know this post is now old but this is the only reference to the old bugaboo bee I can find. Had mine new about 8 years ago but now have a almost 2 year old and a 8 month old so really want to find a buggy board for my old bee. Can you remember which version you had ..... Or if you still have it fancy selling it? Smile

CustomBugaboo · 16/09/2015 02:11

Hey Ladyjmu, I have a Bee 1 and Bee Plus. I got them both with Lascal Maxi's attached. They are a good board design, apart from the wheels. They are plastic wheels with steel axles, so eventually, depending how heavy your child is and how much you carry them on the board, the centre's of the wheels will wear down causing them to misalign and rub into the wheel mounts.

I also have a Bugaboo board which I attached to my Frog to try out, and it definitely feels a lot better quality, and has a single wheel with wheel bearings so won't wear anything out. However, the Bugaboo board does is a bit long and gets in the way of your feet when walking directly behind it.

We just need a company that will combine the Bugaboo's wheels with the Lascal's board design.
