Pushchair for Nursery - advice please!

Hi,

Am hoping someone can offer me some advice. We did loads of research for our current pushchair and bought a Baby Jogger City Elite which we absolutely love (although currently am tempted to switch it for BJCMGT but DH needs some convincing and he loves the massive wheels at the moment so not sure it's going to happen). We used it with the hard carrycot and now DS is in the main seat unit and so happy in it. We love the massive hood, the massive seat, the easy fold, adjustable handlebar etc etc.

Anyway, that's not so relevant....DS has now started nursery as I'm back at work. The buggy sheds to leave the buggies in are rather jam packed and it does not seem sensible to leave our BJCE in the buggy sheds. Everyone else seemed to be turning up with a light weight stroller. The walk is about 12 minutes on relatively flat pavements so it doesn't need to be super all-terrain or anything. DH is nearly 6ft tall and I only am just over the 5ft mark, thus we love our adjustable handlebar at the moment but I realise this might not be realistic on a lightweight. It will be me pushing most of the time.

Could someone offer me advice as to what to look out for? Not looking to spend a fortune, but don't want to waste money on buying rubbish either. Was also thinking that if we're getting a 2nd buggy (I was so desperate to be a 1 buggy family!), that we should think about holidays and something that would be good to take on the plane etc. The BJCM is one option but it's more than I wanted to spend I think.

Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks in advance for your help.

Oh and happy to buy a good condition second hand buggy.

I have never tried one, not do I know the price, but I saw the Petit Star Zia + at Harrogate with adjustable handles. The standard ones aren't usually a lot of money?

The bugaboo bee is adjustable height, fab pram, can get quite cheap second hand, though not sure i'd leave in a shed ???

Thanks. The buggy sheds are padlocked, so not an issue in terms of worried about anything being stolen, but more an issue of getting battered.

Tiggywunkle - I had actually been thinking of a Petite Star Zia + just from seeing them around and on buses etc. Might look into it.

Jezebelle - thanks for the suggestion of the Bee. Although it's a great little nippy pram I have too many friends who've had problems with theirs unfortunately.

Anyone else feel free to keep the suggestions coming!

You could get a Micralite. The handlebar swivels and you can get handlebar extenders if you need more adjustment. They're about the size of an umbrella fold when folded, but freestand so may take up less room. There are 4 options which all have the same chassis: Fastfold (very cheap, small recline), Superlite (similar, but very light, better recline, mesh seat), Superlite Classic (more money, better recline than previous two, nicer fabrics) or the Toro which has a lie flat seat but is bigger folded.

After the firsat day of nursery and my lovely 4 week old black footmuff looking brown from the dusty buggy shed, I have decided that I will use a baby sling tomorrow until we become a 2 buggy family.

I was thinking though, can anyone recommend a buggy with an inexpensive storage pouch that the buggy slots into easily. Even if I'm not buying a pricey buggy, I'd like to think it'd still look semi-decent after a week of nursery! I know you can buy baby jogger ones, but my understanding is that they are a snug fit and you need to take the wheels off the bjce.

Does anyone have the petite star zia or bruin zia with the storage bag? Is it easy to slip in and out?

I am wondering about a Maxi Cosi Noa. It wont be ideal for your DH but 12 mins isnt long....and my almost 6 foot DH managed it no problems on holiday for several days. But it folds down really neatly into a long rectangular freestanding cuboid with the fabric clean inside. I bet it would be really simple then to simply slip a large carrier bag over the top of it to keep it clean - or get creative with a simple piece of fabric and make a drawstring type bag. I can't recommend the Noa highly enough - it looks nothing much in pictures but it just works so beautifully well and its the sort of pushchair I would get to freestand neatly in a buggy shed.

What about a maclaren techno. Not the most exciting thing in the world but it has tall handles.
