Ok...I have done some research and I think I want the babystyle oyster BUT I just wonder if there is anything else out there that may be worth a look?

We have loads of time and in fact this pregnancy has a high miscarriage risk so probably jumping the gun a little. With my last DD we had a babystyle ts2 but it wasn't so great. It didn't have a separate carrycot just a newborn liner and was very bulky to fold. So this time I want to fully investigate our options.

Any advice? Or top suppliers?

I have looked at the oyster and i decided i did not like it. First reason is i noticed the suspension on the front wheels works in a strange way, the wheels bend down and under. That cant be good when going down kerbs! Second reason is the hood does not stay open properly as there are no pushdown clips on the sides of it. And third reason is the rain cover, it looks cheap and is too small and doesn't have enough room for when your child will be older and their legs will be over the edge of the seat.

I haven't yet had a problem with the raincover being too small, but my DD is only 18 months. The hood does click in place but not like others do, it's at the end of the hood rods, they click in at the side of the seat. The hood is one thing I think really can't be faulted on the oyster, it's by far the best I've used (and I've had a few pushchairs!).

However, the suspension is one thing that's annoying. I bought mine over a year ago, but it was an older batch. I had heard that they'd since fixed it, so it's a shame to hear you've seen it too (unless it was a long time ago, before the apparently changed it?).

I do think the oyster is great, and good value for money, but there will always be something better available for more money. My sister has a Joolz Day and Bugaboo Gecko which are both lovely to push, but then they're more expensive and don't have the nice fold like the oyster. I love that the oyster folds neatly with the seat facing either direction. I personally prefer it folded with the seat parent facing as it's a neater shape to lie in my boot and makes it easier to get 3 pushchairs in my boot. I love the hidden uv/insect net, the deceptively spacious shopping basket, the telescopic handle, the easy almost flat recline, how you can change the colour on a whim, the list goes on!

I'm really glad I bought it and the only reason I would sell it is to get an oyster max I think, assuming it has a nice push.

If you do get it, I wouldn't bother paying extra for the oyster footmuff or apron as they're both pretty short. I've ended up having to buy a new footmuff well two actually, one for each coloured hood.

Have a look on best buggy for an honest and unbiased review. Smile

I have to say, you get a lot for your money with a Babystyle Oyster. Its very high spec for what you get. Its not perfect, but its not far off and certainly knocks socks off other higher priced pushchairs for functionality.
I would certainly recommend it to anyone.

If you do have the money, take a look too at the Easywalker June and the Baby Jogger Versa. The June is more expensive though. But TBH you would struggle to find a better pushchair than either of these two for all round usability.

Thanks tiggy. I really don't want to spend a fortune as we have a perfectlly acceptable pram from DD (although I don't like it). We have also recently bought a zapp for our DD as we liked the small fold. Clearly this isn't suitable for a newborn. We really want a carrycot and would consider a new car seat although our old one is fine I do like being able to attach to a pram frame on occasion.

Which car seat do you have?

I think you'll be pleased with the Oyster, there really aren't many things about it that I'd change, whereas I normally can think of a very long list of changes I'd want on other pushchairs!

It's a babystyle one that came with our ts2. I can't decide whether to just use that or buy a new one.

IIRC that one doesn't fit on the oyster. Maybe check with Babystyle. (unless I'm getting confused and you already know whether it fits).

You coud always get the Zapp Xtra seat which is suitable from birth and add a Bugaboo cocoon for cosyness. However it's not a carrycot :(

Thanks Tiggy, I shall take a look but I did really regret not having a proper carrycot with my first. Plus we would still need a new car seat for the zapp chassis anyways so prob best to get a whole new pram.....
