Baby in the bottom of a Britax dual - he's now too long, what do I do?

DS2 is over 5mo now. I haven't used the double much so I didn't buy the soft carry cot I originally intended to, and now think he'll be too big for it so there's no point.

I put him in the bottom the other day for the first time in a while and he's hanging over the end by a mile! He's still too small to sit up consistently. I found something to pad out the basket so he could lay his legs on that but that's not a great medium-term solution.

I don't really want to put my toddler in the bottom as it's really reclined, plus getting him in it would be really hard unless he's in a particularly maliable mood!

Acually there's another question - can I sit the bottom seat up any further than just using the clips allows?

I figure there must be another way to transport a baby in the bottom, but what is it?!

TIA!

To be honest, I think the soft cot is the long term solution. Pillows, boards etc could be a bodge job, but this is why I recommend the soft cot.

I am not sure I understand the last question. You have the clips, and also the button recline. If the clips are done up and the button recline is upright then that is as far as it goes.

Yes, there are three positions using the handle to recline, plus the carrycot style position when you undo the two buckles. If you haven't had the seat as upright as it can go, you may decide that it's fine for the older child and you can put the baby on top.

Thanks guys. I need to play around with it as I'm not sure if I've discovered the button recline on the bottom seat! Is it the same type of mechanism as on the top seat?

Tiggy I do worry that DS2 is going to get annoyed lying flat in a carry cot pretty soon, that's why I'd discounted buying one. But, if that's the best option then I'll reconsider. I saw on another thread that you said a Graco one fits fine. Do you have a particular one to recommend (or is thereonly one?). And, if its not a rude question, how do you know so much about prams??? Both reclines are exactly the same. To get the lower seat most upright, you soetmies nead to tug it quite hard to get it to click in.

The Graco soft carrycots are all the same and are very cheap second hand or about £30 new.

I put the graco cot in the bottom seat of the b dual this afternoon. It does indeed fit but it would very much depend on the size of your 5 month old. My fairly chunky 5 week old fits okay but it is pretty narrow. May be fine but I find it hard to visualise fitting a 5 month plus old in it. I can measure the inside of the Graco if it'd help but not right this second as it's now in the depths of the wardrobe again.
Other thing you could do to make the lower seat sit up more is a strap circled round the seat frame like they put on the 2011 bjcm. I do the same on my b agile, webbing and velcro, really seems to have improved the seating position.

I realise DS2 wont want to be flat for much longer, but TBH finding something with a bit of support - maybe a Britax cosy toes will give your LO some support for its legs even when sat up. I know even now, I prefer my youngest to have his legs up level when he's sat upright rather than dangling down (no real reason but I think he looks more comfy!).
I can't really comment on soft cots to be fair. I just know they fit. I used a Bugaboo cocoon until my baby was just under a year old.
To answer your question - I have simply owned and used a lot of pushchairs, but in particular double pushchairs. I think I had something like 30 doubkes back to back last year in a quest to find one that worked well!

Lol... so Tiggy, looks like I'll be getting a Britax soft cot too?! I'm trialling the hard carrycot on top with extension adaptors and toddler in lower seat tomorrow.
