I see the video demo on youtube and some reviews, really interested. Anyone know where I can test drive this? I am in London (Kiddicare seems a bit far)

i have a 2.2 year toddler when the baby arrives on July, not sure if there will be any new double pushchair coming in the next few months, but at the moment, really set my heart on the promenade.

I have tried Baby jogger city select the other day at John Lewis, really liked the seating config options, but it's just too long/heavy for me.

Our local baby store has it in Berkhamsted. www.groovystyle.co.uk Not London but not too far.

Thanks babs2008, I will note this down :-)

Anyone else out there have seen promenade in store?

Or anyone got experience using it?

I've seen it on the shop floor, liked but didn't put any children in it so feel like can't really comment on how it is to use at all. IMHO it reminded me of the b dual in many respects so I was a little hmmm at the price. Have read on here a couple of people have them and seem to like them.
The handle was a little weird, 3 positions but the lowest is not usable in doubles mode, the medium one is probably fine for most pushers and the top one seems a really long way back from the pram which has the effect of making it feel longer that it probably is. The handle telescopes backwards as well as upwards I suppose.
I would defo look at one yourself if you find somewhere local. I saw in next to (quite literally) a MB Duet, Peach Blossom 1, a Pear, a P&T explorer and vibe and a few others I can't quite remember. The size seemed to me most reminiscent of the B Dual.

Hope that helps a little bit.

Thanks Ihateparties, this is really useful info, as I was wondering about the handle too, definitelly going to check it out myself. And will certainly compare with b-dual as well, as the price is quite a big difference. Thanks again

Having looked at some post here, I am now really wanted to see B-Dual as well, anyone tried both can give me some advice?

Me again so I'm not helping with different opinions so sorry about that however I went to the shop again this week and came home with a b dual. From the outset, the fact it was more than half the price of a promenade is definitely a huge factor for me! I fancied a Peach too but there is no stock of the current blossom kit until june and the peach blossom 2 should be out quite soon apparently.

I like it, the ride and push is good, I can push it with one hand with toddler and baby on board whilst holding 4yr old's hand (even on cambered pavements at a push) which was a requirement for me having made one mistake already in buying something where that was impossible! With the top seat in normal position it is relatively easy to tip up a curb (but obviously not as light as a single iyswim). The seats are comfortable but not particularly upright, the straps are a little short and there is a calf rest but not footrest on the main seat and the lower seat has nothing, it just ends where the knees would bend. The biggie though is that it is without a shadow of a doubt WIDE. I think it's 5cm wider than the promenade with the wheel guards off (I have the baby in the lower seat so have not put them on yet) and possibly 8 or 9 cm wider with them on. The promenade felt a lot longer though and there isn't a handle height that felt right for me, the shop assistant said she felt the same which is kind of interesting.

If you can it's definitely worth trying to get to a shop where you can see a good range of options all at the same time, you'd get a much better idea of what you would prefer. I've been putting off a b dual for ages and ages because of the width. Turns out it actually was a compromise I was willing to make in exchange for other things.

Good luck!

I've just got a Promenade - so far only used with DS aged 2.3 as DC2 not due until May. So far it's been excellent, we've used it on the beach, through a wood etc and all with no problems. DS appears to be very comfortable in it and will sleep quite happily. The second seat clips on and off very easily allowing for easy storage. The handle thing is a bit weird but it makes more sense when the second seat is attached - DH finds the second position is fine when it's just in single seat mode but you need the extra length in the handle when the second seat is in lie-flat.

We chose the Promenade over the B-Dual as it was narrower and also DH (6'2) couldn't push the B-Dual without kicking the back of the second seat in lie-flat mode with every step.

I managed to get a good package deal for the Promenade via pramcentreonline.co.uk (pushchair, doubles package, x2 rain hoods and cosy toes equivalent) for around £650.

HTH.

For those of you who have seen the Promenade in the flesh, can I ask a couple of questions? Smile

Firstly, is there any storage space at all when using the second seat in any configuration?

Secondly, can you have the upper seat in lie flat position facing you (i.e. parent facing for a newborn) and the lower seat upright for a toddler?

Researching this like crazy, DC2 due beginning of Sept and there seem to be so many new tandem pushchairs about to be released (Jane Twone, Babystyle Oyster Max etc) it is difficuly to know what to do!

Thank you!

Ihateparties · 03/04/2012 20:34

I thought that the upper seat will only face away in tandem mode but now I write that down that can't be right because you can have both seats in bassinet mode. Hmmm. In the demo I got when you use the upper seat as a single then it attaches to the chassis higher up, closer to the pusher than the place it goes in tandem mode. This is just about visible here

Not sure re basket space. There is some basket under the lower bassinet thing but maybe not much access, I didn't check that very well. Cairnterrier will know. Also something certain on the above too!

I think that upper seat lying flat facing you with the toddler down below is my personal ideal in a tandem but haven't found anything that really does it very well. The B Dual does technically but my toddler decided that kicking the underside of the carrycot would be an amusing pastime so I kinda gave up on it. It can't be an impossible dream!

i bought the promenade while in Australia in January. Unfortunately, I am hugely disappointed and regret this purchase.
Within 1min of sitting in the brand new pram, my 20 month old had sunk her teeth into the foam bar across the toddler seat leaving a hole and several teeth marks sliced into the foam. I had to use a cover from my previous pram to prevent her from biting off anymore bits and choking.
She's not particularly tall and already her head touches the top of the canopy and feet hang over the metal edge of the seat with that edge pressing into the back of her legs.
Folding the pram is quite difficult too and almost impossible while being pregnant.
This pram is impossible to steer. So difficult to manoeuvre, turning a struggle especially in shops while keeping in a straight line just as difficult. There's no way I can push this pram with one hand which as most mothers know is essential at many times.
The pram is also quite wide compared to other phil and teds models which has made getting into doors a struggle.
The rain cover doesn't fit unless my 20 month old has her knees bent right up.
I have used the pram for 2 months now and wonder how much longer the wheels will last. They already look very worn.
I'm yet to have my second baby and fear that the extra weight will make this pram unusable.
Hugely disappointed and regretting this purchase of such an expensive pram.

Lbrossy · 08/04/2012 22:44

There is very limited storage space with the second seat attached.
I have to admit that the main reason I bought this pushchair was so that my toddler could sleep in the flat position and the new baby sleep in a bassinet at the same time as both seats can be reclined flat. Realistically, the negatives about this pram outweigh the benefits of this sleeping arrangement which I'd only really need occasionally.
