Where's the best place to buy a second-hand buggy for a holiday...

..... and what should I look for? I know there have been similar threads - Sorry!

We have a bugaboo cameleon (love them or hate them) and I don't want to take it away on holiday with us this year to Spain. My DS loves his bugaboo and is very comfy when its reclined and sleeps well in it but its too bulky for convenient travel IMO.

I'd like a very lightweight buggy that can be folded down for ease when travelling but that reclines and has a good hood for shade.

Where is the best place to get one second hand, I don't really want to fork out for a new one unless really necessary. Ebay?

Have you checked the price of cheap ones at Argos etc. I'd be disinclined to buy one on ebay as it might be more wrecked than you first thought.

I've looked at Maclaren on Ebay but the ones that are cheap are battered and the ones that are not seem pricey...

How much do you want to spend? I'm assuming you want pushchair advice as well as places to buy.

Yes please Hypatia - I don't really want to spend more than about £100 but I will if its worth it. I just need something that will be lightweight and folds down well. The Bugaboo although light I think is too bulky and will take up a lot of space in the hire car.

Go to a car boot. Really. Our local car boot is full of buggies for a tenner.

Decent ones, Maclarens and the like, that is. The cheapo stick ones tend to be a fiver, and anything a bit posher (Quinny, Silver Cross, M&P etc) between £20-50. And they are usually in good nick too, and you can have a good look and a quick push before buying.

How about a Zeta Vooom (£49 on ebay) I got one about 18months ago and although it's mainly been kept in the car, it's now being used daily. It's really good, large hood, easy recline, the pocket in the back of the hood holds the raincover and still has space for few other things plus the basket. Easy to fold and would be perfect for travelling. :)

asuwere is your Zeta Voom light? Does it recline?

For a good hood, most strollers just won't cut it. A Baby Jogger City Mini would do the job, but isn't super lightweight although is extremely convenient and can be carried using the fold handle.

Have a look at the BJCM but also at the Maxi Cosi Noa which is a thoroughly decent little holiday pushchair. Very well designed and works really well.

I've got a Zeta Vooom, it's not the lightest but it does recline and the hood is great, it's good value for money. There's also a Zeta Lite but I don't know what they are like. DD is a lot more comfy in BJCM though if you can stretch to it.

I have to agree, BJCM is better but Vooom is cheaper alternative - with the double hood, it still gives good coverage. I bought it as wanted a BJCM but DH didn't want to spend that much so figured Vooom was good compromise and I really do like it for what we've used it for :)

I got a reworked Zia from here The only 'problem' it had was a small scratch on the frame. It folds up really small and is very lightweight. It reclines flat and has a decent hood.

The BJCM looks great. I might have to try and extend the buggy budget a bit. Wink
