ANOTHER BJCM question thread...

So you lot have already convinced me that the BJCM single (GT?) is the one for me. But I have some more questions:

  1. the wheels look a bit weedy compared to some others (eg the nipper out and about). Does that mean it won't be as good at curbs?
  1. it is suitable from new born, but do you think it's cosy enough in the lie flat position?
  1. where are y'all pre-ordering the GT from??

I was out with a friend who had her 1 yr old DS in the nipper and it was REALLY easy to push. Will the BJCM be as good? I've had a go instore, but it's not the same as on the streets is it?

TIA

  1. I am not sure I would be driving many pushchairs straight up a kerb!! The last time I tried it with a Mountain Buggy the pushchair went straight up the kerb but DD bashed her head on the chassis! I promised not to be so enthusiastic about practising off roading again!! So you would still want to tip it up like you do other pushchairs, so I dont see an issue. I wouldn't be taking it into serious mud but it should cope with most things I would have thought. But until it arrives no one will know.
  1. Yes its suitable from birth - either by putting the baby straight onto the seat with blankets, or in a cocoon like the Bugaboo Cocoon, or a Petit Zia or Graco soft cot. Or you can buy one of the 3 carrycots or use a car seat. Personally I bought a Bugaboo cocoon for my BJCM which made my baby snuggly, lasted him nearly a year and also meant he was strapped in.
  1. I ordered mine direct but I say have a Google and see what comes up. I would probably say try Winstanleys Pramworld or Ladybugs simply because I know they are taking preorders for the Versa.
  1. I can't answer the last question until the GT arrives in the UK! But the V2 Nipper is heavier than the V1. The V1 Nipper was very light. The advantage of the GT (as my friend has discovered today) is that you wont get a flat tyre. My friend is having to use another pushchair until she can get her Nipper wheel fixed. The Nipper is very good though - not many pushchairs are that light - but equally not many get blown away by the wind!!!

Having said all this, the GT should be at Harrogate at the weekend and I will be heading to have a good play with it, so if you bump this up say on Tuesday I can give you some thoughts - but as you said, until you get into a real life situation or have a Nipper in one hand and the GT in the other - then there's no real way to quantify the difference.
