We are TTC at the moment, I was dollydaydreaming earlier and it struck me that we might struggle finding something he can actually push without breaking his back! I know it's premature but any ideas? Something to occupy my mind :)

I think there are a few. The new Phil&Teds Promenade for example has a very long handle, so plenty of room for a long stride. The Orbit which is coming to the UK is supposedly good for long strides too. Meanwhile rotating handlebars such as those on the Baby Jogger Elite go very high up. The iCandy Apple is meant to have a tall handlebar and the John Lewis Travel System AKA the MyChild Pinto has a long handlebar. I am sure you will find something to suit :) You could always sling the baby :)

the bugaboo cameleon has a great extendable handle.

lisad123 · 20/02/2012 20:53

Bugaboo or mountain buggy were both great for dh who is a whole foot taller than me Blush

semtexinmypocket · 20/02/2012 20:54

My DH is 6 ft 5. We had a M and P pliko pramette with extendable handles which he got on ok with.

Also had a maclaren twin techno which had really long handles - not sure if they are as long on the single one, but assume so?

Fruitflieslikeabanana · 20/02/2012 20:59

The problem my DH (6'6") found with prams/pushchairs wasn't the handle height but the space underneath to allow for stride length - nearly all of the prams we tried he kept kicking the shopping basket / axel. We ended up with a M&P ultima because we wanted a full size pram. (you'll prob have a long baby too which can also limit your choice of prams)

The Mutsy 4Rider can extend from 93cm to 114cm, which is very tall.

diamondsonthesolesofhershoes · 20/02/2012 21:15

I hadn't thought about the stride thing, I hope my ideal of having a big basket won't be buggered! I suppose that also limits your options with buggyboards too.. doh! We look after nephews quite often so have an old maclaren here, just assumed we'd get a board when if the time comes.
Can you be limited on carrycot options with long babies as well then? I always assumed they'd make them long enough for a good few months!

My DH (6ft 9) gets on well with our Bugaboo Cam - the handle goes really long. Won't tolerate the change bag over the handle though as it gets in his way!

HypatiaTheProcrastinator · 20/02/2012 21:24

Some carrycots aren't that long, but it's the seat unit in particular you'll need to make sure is long really. Some pushchairs have curved rear axels that work well for long strides. Also, some pushchairs have tall handles but they rotate. You'll need one that pulls out to push him further away from the pushchair to give leg room. Buggboards are a pain for most average height parents, let alone very tall parents.

diamondsonthesolesofhershoes · 20/02/2012 21:42

Is it worth getting a carrycot if they don't last very long? I'm just thinking price wise??

It depends completely on what you get. Some need a carrycot as the seat isn't suitable from birth. Some carrycots will be long enough to use for a good five months.

HypatiaTheProcrastinator · 20/02/2012 22:32

Oh and some come with the carrycot so there's no price difference. Eg. Cameleon and Vista.

TheCrunchUnderfoot · 20/02/2012 22:39

Read thread title and thought 'If he's 6ft 7 there's no way you're going to fit him in a pram, no matter what make it is.' Grin

WannabeEarthMomma · 20/02/2012 22:42

Did anyone else read the thread title and just for a split second have a funny mental image of a tall bloke squished into a pram and sulking? Grin

diamondsonthesolesofhershoes · 21/02/2012 11:47

Haha Blush
I'm not quite sure how he'd feel about that, and i wouldn't fancy trying to push him anywhere lol!

Hypatia just got a Joolz Day and says it great in loads of ways and the handle comes up to her chest so it's probably another one to add to the list. Smile

HypatiaTheProcrastinator · 21/02/2012 13:58

It is long, but not that long! Or I'm not that short. It's 110cm maximum, but you can get longer than that.
