Bugaboo +buggyboard vs P&T or Mountainbuggy

Hopefully Someone here can help me.

My DD will be 2.2 when baby is born.

I currently have a bugaboo chameleon which I'm perfectly satisfied with. Because it was £££ we were always planning to get two 'babies worth' out of it. However dc2 came along quicker than first thought!

My initial plan was to buy a buggyboard. Possibly try and get a twoo seat off of eBay. And for long days out maybe borrow my mums stroller and use two pushchairs (providing dp is out with us!)

However on Saturday I witnessed a toddler full on tantruming in boots. Her mum only had a pram with buggy board so ended up having to push pram with one hand whilst struggling to carry kicking toddler. Suddenly my perfect plans for September fell apart in my mind!

So I spent all of Saturday researching doubles. We have narrower than average doorways and a smallish car boot. I initially liked the look of iCandy peach but cannot justify the money. So I'm now considering maybe a Phil and Teds or mountain buggy +one.

But can anyone tell me If I am being too hasty and I will actually be mainly ok with a buggy board?

I have to drive everywhere. Don't walk far at all as we live in a rural village. The only time I use the buggy alone is normally for shopping. Dp is mostly with us on long day trips out.

I would rather try and make use of the expensive pram we already have than pay put for another which may only be used for a few months. (I would also be buying the double second hand)

Oh one one last thing I cannot use a sling for the new born due to a long standing issue with my collar bone. I broke it as a teenager and any strain causes pain even now.

i never got on with the bugaboo board as you have to walk off to the side and i like to push my pushchairs with both hands in the middle, it really hurt my back, i have had P&t for a fair few years and think they are great, but i would only recommend the sport out of all the ones i have owned, the new explorer is the old sport but only buy new as the earlier ones had recalls. i know someone with a +one and they love it and i am sure they will be along soon to tell you all about it Smile

It may be worth trying a buggy board. However having one for a few years completely wrecked my shoulders, so if you already have a problem in that area, it might not work.

After a couple of disasters with side by side buggies (really no good in an urban area) we got a P & T. I loved it. Great in town, great on rougher ground, the DCs called the under seat the snuggly seat, and loved it too.

They may have changed by now though - DD3 is now 8, so it's been a while!

I was in your shoes with the same plans and like you, I changed and opted for a double. I have never regretted it although I do miss my Cameleon. I tried my eldest - now 3 and a bit on a buggy board last week and she fell off twice in the space of only a few minutes and hurt herself. I had tried it out on a nice smooth supermarket floor. She promptly legged it whilst I tried to order a prescription, then came back and was trying to wrestle the pushchair out of my hands whilst talking to the chemist and I realised it wasn't going to work and have gone back to a double option again. I have to say, she is generally speaking a little angel and will do as she is told. But for shopping I really dont need the hassle and just want to get on and go. She can dawdle or throw full blown tantrums too at other times!!

I have the +One and I think it is excellent as long as your eldest doesnt nap. However you will struggle to find a cheap second hand one as they are still so new. I have a Peach Blossom - the new version - and could totally justify the cost to anyone. It is absolutely brilliant and should hold its value too. Having come from a Cameleon, I do much prefer it - in fact for me it was almost a sigh of relief to have something more chunky under hand, to not have to fish about in the basket etc. I do prefer my Peach and its the only thing stopping the irrational part of me from buying a Cameleon again :)

I had 3 girks with 23 months between each of them. I have owned a Jane double (inline) -like driving a bus, maclaren side by side-a nightmare for doorways and really tough on my shoulders due to the arm postions and a phil and teds. The phil and teds was fantastic we bought new in a sale added a few extra off ebay and sold for not far off what we paid originally.

I would definitely recomend the phil and teds.

Mmm - interesting thread. I'm expecting DSII in a few weeks and have got a cameleon (and now buggy board) and have also been given a P&T Sport. DSI will be 2.5 when DSII arrives - he's already used to a buggy board at the childminders and is most excited by there being a "skateboard" on the back of the cameleon now (though hasn't yet used it outside). I'll let you know how it goes!
