double buggy dilemma

I have a large triple buggy (the ABC) which has been a god send - I had twins when my eldest was only 21 months. However, I got it 2nd hand and it is slowly falling apart, I can't collapse it to get it into the car any more, it is very heavy and I am dreaming of a slimline double that I can use with a buggy board now my twins are 8 months (big solid boys) and eldest will be 3 this summer.

I just had a quick look on the mountain buggy website - does anyone have their duet or + one?!! The duet looks compact and I could use a buggy board but I worry that my big boys will outgrow the seats fairly quickly?!! The + one looks very similar to a phil and teds, again I worry that there won't be enough room for them and it doesn't look like there is enough room for a buggy board so might not be an option as my eldest is so not ready for walking any time soon!! I'd really appreciate any advice on this

The +One is absolutely no good to you right now. Great for your 3 year old and one twin but not the two babies. Plus a buggy board doesn't fit on the rear as the seat recline gets in the way. The Duet would be better for you, but unless width really is an issue, then a regular side by side would give you more for your money. The Duet is still heavy and bulky to get in the car but I admit not quite as bad as the ABC (You did great to get that into the car!). Have a look at a Baby Jogger City Mini / GT. A buggy board would it onto that. Or a Twinner Twist Duo which has a sit down board.

Or what about Tiggy's Love n Care Twingo? Wink It's one I'd LOVE to try as it has two reversible seats and is lovely and narrow like the Duet. It has a neat fold and is really light for a double! If I could afford it and had the space I'd definitely have bought it! Grin

Look here for more info and photos. Smile

Tiggy I hope you don't mind me linking. I just know this could be great and it's what we really wanted when the girls were about 8/9 months but couldn't afford.

Thank you both for this - you certainly know your double buggies!! I had a quick look at the 3 you have recommended as not heard of them before (except the city jogger). The thing I like about the Mountain duet is that it is only 63 cm wide - my ABC is about 75 (could just fit it into our boot when it was collapseable, and now can get it in if I take the hadle and wheels and toddler seat off and lie it on its side - as you can imagine I don't do this too often!!) - I am really looking for the smallest lightest double buggy, and these all seem to be about as wide as my ABC.

Thanks for pointing out that the + one wouldn't take a buggy board, I'm guessinga Phil and Teds would be the same. I don't even know if my eldest would go on one - he is 2 and a half just now, bit of a handful at times, and it is still pretty good to have somewhere to contain him when we are out :) I am dreaming of the day I can push something a bit smaller, my back is starting to suffer and I'm moving much slower, and I'd really like to stop attracting so many silly comments!!!
