Got myself the P&T. I have lost count of the number of punctures and new innertubes I have had. Only started using it for the school run about 3 weeks ago due to using carrier for DD and single for DS.
This is when the problem started. It would appear the tyres can cope well in town or city but put them on a semi rural road with fields and hedges and the tyres don't stand a chance. I am pretty much removing them every evening because of punctures used slime and it made no difference once the thorns drop out the air just comes out.
Can't get another puschair after the price of this one.
Are there any other things on the market that may make my school run a little less angry?

you could try tyre fix, but its for repairing a punture rather than prevent and fix, but i used it when i got a drawing pin in my p&t tyre, which resulted in a complete flat, it pumps this stuff into the tyre and it reinflate with it and it kept it up while on holiday and was still rock hard when i changed it for a new innertube, tbh my dp did not understand why i was bothering replacing it, as it was so good and was showing no sign of going down, worth a try as you really don't have a lot to loose, link below, but i bought mine from a cheapy shop and know the 99p shops sell it too

Ohh thank you, it is worth a try, will get some ready for my next puncture which I am sure will arrive sooner rather than later.

what P&T did you get? I have a SPort (old style Explorer) but the rubber grade of the tyres is pretty thick. Maybe it is less on newer models?

If there is a Evans Cycles or something similar near to you maybe you could pop in and see if they could source a more rugged tread for you.

It's the Dash model. The tyres are pretty thin to be honest. There is a web apparently according to halfords which you put in the tyre not the tube that helps with mountain bikes, so have got some of that to try and hope that makes some difference. Thank you for your help, if this fails rugged treads will be the next port of call I think.

Best solution is to buy a complete new set of thorn proof inner tubes and rugged outer tyres. Nigel at pushchairs.co.uk may be able to help getting the correct tyre size etc.
I don't know why phil and teds persist in supplying the poorest quality thinnest tyres available on their prams. But they do.

nunnie · 25/01/2012 20:39

Thank you, have been looking into the puncture proof inners but I can't find them for phil and teds anywhere. Will have a look at the above site thank you. You would think for the price phil and teds would use quality but they seem to have cut corners on a couple of things on the Dash. Not my best buy if I am honest, but stuck with it now.

i wouldnt bother looking for Phil and Teds branded treads/inner tubes, just look for some at the size you want. Bike or specialist pram/pushchair shops or sites should be able to help. They should be fairly easiy to find. i am pretty sure that mountain buggy use the same size tyre treads and inners on some of their models.
