Babystyle Oyster - maximum user weight?

Hi, I wonder if someone could help me. I have the Oyster and really like it. However, my DS who is just 11 months at his last weigh in at 9 months weighed 12.2kg. If he stays on the same centile line (just above 99th) he will weigh too much for it by the time he is about 18 months I think. Obviously, at that age we will still need a pushchair!

I'm hoping someone will tell me the max user weight of 15kg is simply Babystyle protecting themselves and it should be able to take a lot more than that...please!

Thanks

Pushchairs in the UK only have to be tested to 15kg, so it may well actually pass the tests at a heavier weight. When they test them, they actually have to pass at 1.5 times the weight limit IYSWIM. So when they are testing for aweight limit of 15kg, they actually use a weight of 22.5kg during testing. That means the Oyster will have been tested and passed at a weight of 22.5kg and will probably be fine. However, if anything were to happen and you wanted a repair etc under warranty, you wouldn't be covered.

Oh, interested to read this because we had also looked at the Oyster... glad to hear you are pleased with yours.

I love mine. I've had it for a year and DD is 16 months now. She's still got room to grow height wise but the seat back isn't that high. It's a real shame, it's the only thing that lets it down IMO.

Thanks, ItsMyLastOne that really helps :)

It is a lovely pushchair - does everything I need it to and doesn't have a massive price tag like some of them. I think I will also have a problem with the height back of the seat as well as my DS is also off the charts for his length too. I probably only need it to last until he is just over 2 as we will hopefully be having another baby then so I'll probably end up with a double at some point. I just want to avoid getting another pushchair and still having to buy a double in the end anyway.

Any recommendations for a double pushchair for a giant child would be appreciated!

Buy a B-Dual and then add the lower seat later (or put it away if you get a good deal)

Or a second hand iCandy Apple / Pear / Peach.

Babystyle Oyster - maximum user weight? - was literally was asking myself the same question today after buying a car seat to fit it.

icandy takes 15kg per seat unit
bugaboo bee takes 17kg - Sorry to hurt anyone feelings but this one looks like it is recommended for orthopedic children...
Oyster takes 15kg
