Buying Second Hand (MaxiCosi Loola)

I'm just after a bit of advice really and have been helpfully directed to this thread from another, so I hope you can help!

We need to buy a pushchair that fits into a very small Seat Arosa boot. There are a few options, but I'd like one that works with a MaxiCosi car seat (providing this will fit the car). At the moment, the Loola is near the top of our list. I'd like to buy a second hand pushchair to save a bit of money, but a new car seat.

Does anyone have experience of this pushchair and have any advice about what to look out for when inspecting a second hand model?

There are a lot of pushchairs that may fit in your boot and the vast majority of pushchairs these days seem to take Maxi-Cosi carseats.

I don't have experience of the Loola so can't advise you about that.

Oh and when it comes to checking a second hand pushchair, try opening and closing a few times, check the wheels swivel properly with weight in the seat and check the recline works properly.

Thank you! There aren't actually all that many pushchairs that will fit in the boot of my car, so our options are fairly limited. I will look into a couple of your suggestions that I haven't already though!

I loved my Loola, I got it second hand and it was especially good with the maxi cosi carseat, I had to buy adaptors though that may have changed now as it was 3yrs ago and a few yrs old when I brought it.

Fold it up and down a few times, check wheels, check seams on fabric, check the hoods not damaged where it clips in. All loolas have a wobble if that makes sense so don't be alarmed at being able to shake the handles well, and when opening pop your foot on the rest and really pull up to ensure its clicked in fully.

Sil now has ours for her ds and its going strong.

Good thing about the loola is it has a decent size seat and still folds small, extremely small if your just using the frame for a carseat. I miss that buggy!

That sounds great drippy, it's good to hear from somebody who has used one. I think it does need adaptors for the MaxiCosi car seat, but that's okay. Two questions if that's okay:

How did you find the handle height? I'm sure it will be fine for me, but my husband is tall!

Does the pushchair feel incredibly wide? It is wider than some others on the market and I will be using buses now and again, so if you could let me know what you thought that would be great.

I hated the loola. Love my baby jogger city mini, 2011 models also compatible with maxi cosi car seat, small fold. I have a loola you could have but I got it second hand and its not perfect. Things not quite right on it I'd recommend you check are-
When lying flat and parent facing it doesn't lock into position properly so you have to keep tweaking and checking baby doesn't end up very slightly head down

Strap length- short on the loola, I couldnt use cosytoes with it (my friend says that's well known)

It's very, very heavy!

Can't remember rest, got ill 16 month old asleep on me

ohh..the loola (shudders at the thought) i was in love with it when id see other mums pushing it about and in t'books but when i bought one (second hand) it was horrid. the sheer size of it- too much faffing with the seat etc- big fold..VERY wide load...

bought the bjcm and have never regretted it since. i love it like i loved it on day one.

Thanks so much for the advice everyone. We've decided the Loola isn't for us after all. The big plus was that it would fit in my tiny boot, but it doesn't really work for the other features we need so it's back to the drawing board. sammy, the Baby Jogger City Mini is a definite possibility now and the handles even seem longer than most which would suit my tall DH!

My dh is 6"5 and he said it was ok, but he far prefered our p&t and icandy pear, both of which are doubles so no use. A friend has the quinny zap that has a reversable seat that's lovely but quite low handles imo.

Hi can anyone help me I just bought a maxi cost look a second hand I wanted to check with someone who has had one the frame seems really wobbly and the seat rocks forward and back is this normal or has someone sold me a dodgy pushchair thanks
