hi, i have a 3 year old daughter and i am due baby no2 beginning of June. i am using the baby jogger city mini at the moment and was wondering if anyone has used the hard carrycot on it? or did u just use without - im not overly comfortable with this as baby facing away and dont like the look of the carseat on the frame... so does anyone know if any other carrycot brands fit or if i can use the select carrycot on it???

also on a seperate note has anyone used a buggyboard on the jogger?

i am so confused as i love the buggy but is looking to be expensive to make it newborn suitable... £140 for a carrycot is more than i paid for the buggy in the first place!!! am looking at maybe just getting a different buggy second hand!

You can use one of three carrycots on the City Mini - the hard bodied one, the compact carrycot and soon there will be a compact plus carrycot too. You can leave the fabric on with the latter two, or remove it. No other carrycot brands fit on the chassis but people used to use petit Zia or Graco soft cots in the flat seat. Or you can simply put the baby flat on the seat.
Baby Jogger make a glider board for the City Mini.
But I know when my baby was smaller (8 month ish) I ended up with my 2.5 year old being tired and I simply slid the baby right up to the back of the recline and the toddler perched on the front. It worked beautifully although not recommended!

i did see the compact one, but again thought it stuck out a little awkwardly from the frame like the carseat! so can u use that one without the fabrics on because all the pictures on google show it with the fabric and i cant find any reviews!

You can buy the compact carrycot from £100. Or you could buy a second hand one and maybe get a new mattress for it. You'll be able to recoup some money by selling the carrycot when the baby grows out of it, so it's not completely wasted money.

I'm pretty sure you can use the compact carrycot with the fabric off. The only photo I found of this is on the double version sold by kiddicare under the baby jogger sidewalk name, if you look at the package deal with the double pram and 2 compact cots there is one shot of the frame with just the carrycots and no fabric on. I would link it if I knew how! From this I assume is it possible on the singles too.

I can't see why it wouldn't fit without the fabrics on because I believe the carrycot sits on the mounting bracket which is on each side of the chassis.

Just to add leaving the pushchair hood on would give you all over cover for the baby at both ends in summer or winter.

i know someone who had the glider board and her child literally couldn't fit their head under the handlebar.
it must only workj for short children i think as there isn't enough space for the head to come up between the back of the seat and the handlebar I don't think

you may also find that if the carrycot sticks out the back then the child won't be able to stand onthe board?

Ok what is this city sidewalk? Looks identical to city mini? More to the point do we think pramworld would price match it to the mini I just bought from them?

Tiggywunkle · 22/01/2012 17:16

No, because the Sidewalk is a completely different pushchair.
Here are the differences

Ah thank you tiggy. Glad I am getting the mini. Is £209 reasonable? Plus £36 for footmuff?
