ok. I have been researching this for months and I just can't make up my mind.
I love my light and easy bugaboo bee.. but my 21 month old is too young for the buggy board.

what would you choose in my situation:
small doorway 70cm max width, very large and heavy 98% toddler (under two years old) who still likes to recline a little, never in car much but all around london and need to get on bus.

I really like the looks of phil and ted promenade...but really not sure I can justify the cost.
Britax B dual seems good but wide and bulky and not sure how long toddler will fit in seats.
Kids Kargo Duellette, seems good but not sure of quality and again, how long toddler will fit and not sure can wait till newborn is 6 months.
MB Duet, but expensive for not such great features.
Graco Stadium Duo, cheap but will it be a nightmare to push with heavy toddler in it?

Any others? please tell me what to get as I cannot decide!

I feel your pain!! I'm not much help but have posted about the exact same thing lately. I'm 37 weeks now and still haven't decided. I had thought I might wait for the new iCandy peach blossom but it's likely to take forever to come out. I also love the look of promenade, does anyone have one yet?! I feel the same as you about mb duet. Also have a very narrow front door so side by side would be difficult. This buggy hunt has taken over my life!Smile

I imagine it's difficult slinging and pushing the buggy? I have the cameleon which pushes like a dream but I found it hard to do much other than walk anytime I had dd in the sling. Let's hope someone can shed some light on the promenade. Glad to have someone in same boat!

Have you considered the M&P Pulse Twin? By friend had one for her twins and it fitted through her narrower-than-normal front door, and the boot of her Fiesta.

There's a bit of info here about the promenade, and I believ there will be a review going on the site in the next couple of weeks.

We had a phil and teds vibe and it was fab. Fairly light, easy to push one handed, folded up relatively small. Very comfortable for both children. Also when used for just one child, its nice and small also. I don't think I ever had a problem with doorways. We still have it incase we ever have another child Grin.

I have had most of your list and out of them all, I would choose the B-Dual as the most reliable / practical. The wheel trims remove which loses some width off it of that is an issue. The B-Dual is no longer or taller than the average P&Ts and in fact was shorter than the Verve which is quite a neat P&Ts. The hood heights were almost the same. The B-Dual's trick is to use the space very well ie upwards as well as outwards.

The Duellette I thought was fab. I loved the seating positions especially the children facing each other. I didn't have any worries over the quality from what I saw, but I can't speak for more than the couple of weeks I used it for. But if you buy direct from the Kidz Kargo man, then at least you are dealing direct with him. The new 2012 Duellette can now take a car seat. The new blurb says the seat is also suitable from birth but I would question this carefully. I know there have been changes (one hood was going to be higher too) but the label on mine said suitable from 6 months. But I would certainly now, having used a Duellette, put my money down on one because it was a lot of fun and there are some nice attention to details. It would probably be my second choice if you can get through the baby stage (or probably my first choice if I had an over 6 month old).

I agree re the Duet. I think it is overpriced with fairly basic features. The recline / fabric drove me mad, the children were too close, and it pulled to the side my eldest was on (thats in a nutshell).

Dont even consider the Graco - its sturdy with some nice features but its ooooohhhh soooooo heavy to push, carry and a huge chunk folded!! Really heavy to push!

ihateparties on here has seen the Promenade. She may pop up and give her feedback for you. But in a nutshell, she found it very easy to use and swap modes etc. She liked the seats, although wasn't sure they were tall (she measured the lower one as 44cms and the upper one as 48cms (so the upper one is fine), but they seemed wide, and strong fabric. The chassis felt strong, but she did say that it felt more like a B-Dual than an iCandy and didn't feel it was worth the money. She said she would rather stretch the bit extra and buy an iCandy than the Promenade. She said the handle heights were odd too: One is very short but really to fold or park and is directly over the lower seat. The tall one is much futher away. The lie flat seat / beds are literally that - not carrycots. She said the lower seat didn't lie completely flat and that you would want to put some sort of liner into it. The baby is obviously strapped in using the harness. She said it would fit in say a Focus pretty well. The rear wheels pop off but the width stays the same because of the wheel guards. She said there is 41cms between the seats. I hope I have summed it up ok. She was going back to try it again soon.

I found it impossible to sling and lean forwards to push a pushchair, get the toddler in and out, wipe noses etc. It wasn't practical.

For me the B-Dual isn't perfect - I don't like the way older toddlers sit in the seat but this is alleviated by putting the footrest up. But its the best really of the lot from birth.

Have you ruled out the iCandy Pear BTW. You wont get shorter than that.

Damn I was hoping to find the answer to this very question! I've narrowed it down to the B dual or P&T explorer. The i candy is no good as my toddler is too tall. I tried the baby jogger city select but I struggled to push it & there is no way I'd get up a kerb. Is the promenade out then? Have also tried the donkey (no good for OP) but the expense is too much.
More trips to the pram shop then!

actually I was thinking of the pear, but I am worried that the seats are not big enough for my large/tall toddler. what do you reckon?

I agree, I saw the duet in john lewis and the bunching seat fabric really put me off, as did the break..it seemed hard to do.

are you saying I can make the b-dual slightly more narrow? how? any idea by how much?

with the kids cargo--do the seats go flat at all? my 6 month old will still want to sleep..could I get a bugaboo cocoon in it?

Go and have a really really good look around //www.bestbuggy.co.uk because it will answer all your questions. Theres photos galore of children in all these pushchair seats.
My over 100cms 3.3 year old (in age 4-5clothes) fits fine in the Peach seat with the hood pushed up the chassis and leg rest moved down. The liner also removes giving more cms in each direction.
At just under 3 she fitted fab in the larger Pear seat too. The seats are big and the hood is easily removed.
The Duellette configurations are all on there too to see how you can get your six month old flat. I don't see why the Bugaboo cocoon wouldn't fit if you removed the liner, but you can only try.
I don't know how much smaller removing the wheels guards makes the B-Dual. A few cms on either side? Again, looking at photos might give you an idea. I don't recommend removing the wheel guards for an older toddler though, after all it's a safety feature.

Gosh it's a tricky one. Whole thing so dependent on your needs. The p&t promenade is def available now because I looked at one the other day and the shop claimed to have them in stock. Personally I would want to try a larger child in the seats in whatever different seat set ups you felt you would use it with most. The top seat is a good height, the lower one not so much but I didn't have any children with me that day and it's hard to get a real idea without (or maybe that's just me being useless!) The measurements were very approximate and the hoods do remove if height is an issue. Overall I liked it but where it fits within the peach/b dual/pear/duet line up I wouldn't like to comment for someone else, especially as I didn't push any children in it.

In short I personally felt there's a lot to like but it's a lot of cash and there are other things around that do the same job with their own pros and cons. The cocoon in the lie flat bed thing prob makes a huge difference to the comfort of that but I didn't see one. As Tiggy would confirm I am a big obsessive believer in the narrow, the promenade is 64cm and with pretty chunky wheels and I was surprised that I didn't find it too bulky in that regard. Go see one, it's definitely worth investigating.

mamaesi we don't have the wheel guards on our B Dual because the girls can't reach the wheels yet. I've just measured it without them and it's approx 67cm wide. I checked it several times and that's definitely what it measures. This has surprised me as the wheel guards seem to stick out quite far, but I often find that companies' stated measurements and the actual measurements often differ. I bet it's over 70cm with them on.

So you want votes?

My vote is B Dual

Anyone else?

I think the B-Dual too unless you can get your baby to 6 months and then I think you should get the Duellette or Hauck Duett.

I like voting! I say B-Dual or KK Duelette if you can wait until 6 months but I'd probably put a baby in at 4-5 months.

I'm just gonna drop in a tiny half vote of loyalty to my trusty and extremely cheap Hauck duett. I've rigged the lower seat though so I'm cheating technically, lf you can get the baby to six months then you have a lot more options inclusive of stuff at the more erm... value end of the spectrum.

my last one- thank you for measuring! after almost deciding on the b-dual...this now puts me off it again. 70/71cm is my max for my doors in my house. there is no way I am getting something I have to collapse every day!

I really want the peach but don't think I can afford it. Probably not the Promenade either. In my past life I would have happily spent that on a handbag, but now I am not working and trying to be sensible in all areas. :(

KK Duelette is leading the way, I reckon I can manage (not easily) until 6 months..

hauck duett? oh no another one to debate endlessly over...

just to say...thank you all so much for voting. hope more people come on and vote too!

tiggy- I hope mums net are paying you. As you always come on and answer everyones questions so thoroughly. its so helpful. thank you a million times!

Re the duellette, could you snag something off ebay like a silver cross surf babynest to flatten the seat for a littler baby? I was mainly looking at budget stuff too (oh how I'd love a peach if it were possible) and it's all compromise in one area or another. Width had to win for me too also due to the door issue, dc1+2 I had a baby jogger city mini double which was ace but did not fit through my front door, end of the day that's just not practical!

duellette- I have my bugaboo bee cocoon, maybe I can some how stuff the seat and flatten??

I just spent an hour in the baby shop today and I left still loving the Peach. I was really worried about the lack of an upright position on the second seat which was the only thing stopping me choosing it.....BUT iCandy have posted new information on their website that says the new conversion kit (coming out later this year) will fit on the current Peach as long as it has a very recent/current serial number. That is what I understood from the website but Im very tired so may need to just ring them tomorrow! In that case I would buy the current Peach Blossom and, if I need to, sell the current converter kit and buy a pip2 converter kit. Does that make sense?! I know the new colours will be different but I could just decide what matches best.

Here is the link if anyone is interested www.icandyworld.com/uk/en/icare/section/38_next_generation_peach

Tiggywunkle · 19/01/2012 21:04

Yes that makes sense. The flaw as you say is that the new Pip2 Convertor is only coming out in the new colours, so you would have different coloured seats. There's loads of information on here about the new Peach Blossom 2 as well. I don't know why iCandy say the new pip Convertor will only fit on the latest chassis because I do know it fits on older ones too....one of my friends has at least a year old Peach with one on. I know she had no issues fitting it. There must be a reason though.
