Best double/tandem for VERY BIG 2 yr old and newborn

I have NO IDEA about doubles/tandems

DS will be 2 when newbie comes along. DS is very big (tall and heavy) - about a year ahead of his age size-wise. He has been walking since 9 months so maybe won't need it for that long??!!

Any recommendations??

First question - what will you MAINLY use it for? Car? Walking? Off road? ie what is your lifestyle like?
Second question - does it matter if it is a tandem (inline) or double (side by side)?
Third question - what is your budget?
:o

Single buggy and a buggy board? Great as long as he doesn't need to sleep whilst on the move.

Out n About Nipper would be my recommendation.

Tiggy

Q1 - Lots of walking and very hilly around where we live. All on pavement. A fair bit of in and out of car as well.
Q2 - not sure. Only concern is because DS is a chunky monkey that he wouldnt have enough room in a double as they are made narrower these days (not like the old fashioned ones that were as wide as a bus!)
Q3 - I will pay for the right one!!!

Oh and when is newbie due and does DS nap at all?

SquishyCinnamonSwirls · 10/01/2012 22:57

I've got an out n about nipper for the children I mind. It pushes easily one handed, has a hand brake as we live on a few steep hills so I don't feel like it's running away with me, is easy to put up and fold down and I could basically rave on about it for ages as it's made my everyday working life so much easier.
It makes no difference at all to how it pushes whether I've got a 6m old in one side and a 4yr old in the other, you don't actually feel that there's an imbalance.
It's got great storage underneath and in the backs of the seats, and the big tyres mean it handles the across fields walks I do with the dog and older children.
Best of all I got it for £70 from ebay Grin

I personally stick with those pushchairs that fit through a standard doorway. That way you shouldn't get any nasty surprises.
Side by sides are simpler. I would look at the Baby Jogger City Mini, City Mini GT, or City Elite. To see the differences go here and use the Compare Pushchairs tool at the top. Look also at the Easywalker Duo and Twinner Twist Duo. All are excellent side by sides.
Tandems are harder and to be honest, I would think short term - especially if you want one to put a car seat on. The iCandy Peach Blossom and Pear are both worth a look, as is the Britax B-Dual, Mima Kobi and Mountain Buggy +One (if DS doesn't nap or is unlikely to in six months time)

Very uncool but I still like my Phil and Teds - the width problem obviously goes because of the way they stack. And size would not be a problem - until the baby came, my 4 year old would regularly sneak underneath (the back seat is very useful as somewhere to put your shopping)! And he is a tall 4 year old incase your wondering. Probably does explain my bad back...

Also got it at a real bargain price secondhand (wasn't going to make the same pfb mistake of spending a bloody fortune on a pushchair again)
