Baby Jogger Summit XC

Think this is the one for me....I live out in the sticks and none of the shops that are 'local' seem to have this model in the shops so hoping someone can answer a few questions regarding the Summit...your opinions much appreciated...

Did you use the carry cot with it? It does say 'can be used from birth' but not really sure if I fancy putting a very new born baba into it....anyone use this from birth without the carry cot? The carry cot is lots of extra pounds so was thinking i could possibly use it like a moses basket in the house during the daytime and then use a crib in our room at night.

Anyone use the car seat adaptor? What car seat did you use? Did you find it easy to attach?

All the reviews seems to be very positive and i am pretty sure it will meet my needs when baby is a bit bigger but just a few concerns for the first few months.

This is all so new to this first timer so any thought and opinons would be welcome!

I haven't used the Summit but I believe the Baby Jogger pushchairs are all very similar - I have the Elite and City Mini.
The standard car seat brackets simply plug in - very easy to do - some of the easiest I have used. If you buy the hard carrycot then you get a different car seat bracket included with the mounting and I believe that is not as simple.
I believe both the hard bodied and compact carrycots fit the Summit. There will soon be a compact plus carrycot too which us a little larger. No, you don't need one, but you may feel your newborn is a little exposed on the seat. But as long as the harness is tight then some blankets would suffice, or you may wish to look at a baby cosy toes or nest. However, I don't believe Baby Jogger carrycots are suitable for overnight sleeping. It would be fine during the day when you are awake, but not overnight. However some companies do mattresses suitable for overnight sleeping which may be worth researching.
One final thing, there is a new Summit due out this year which has tracking on the wheels. I don't know much about ths but I think it's useful if you run (which I don't!!) So I don't know when you are due but you may wish to find out when this will be arriving in the UK.

Cheers for your thoughts.

Hi after a wait of a few months for them to arrive in the UK we have just received our Summit XC from www.pushchairs.co.uk with the new 2012 front wheel with tracking. Very pleased with it, well made and nice to use.

It is quite ery wide and I wouldn't want to take it round town, but we have it for jogging and country walks and it's perfect for these. We have paired it with a BuggySnuggle which fits really well.

Nigel at www.pushchairs.co.uk is very helpful if you have any questions.
