Soft cocoon/carrycot for Mountain Buggy Duet?

mistressploppy · 30/12/2011 13:07

I'm expecting DC2 in a few weeks and have bought a Duet (my friend has one so I've fiddled with it and it suits us brilliantly)

I don't really want to shell out £140 for a proper carrycot as I don't think we'll get much use out of it (not much of a one for long walks Blush) but I wondered if anyone knew whether the soft cocoony things with handles that come with P&Ts etc would fit? How do they attach? There are a few on Ebay but I can't see where the strap holes are or how the whole thing works.

Or am I better off getting a lambskin liner, using the straps in the normal way and wrapping him/her up in blankets? The seats do go flat.

Thanks!

I know people use the bee cocoon in them. I can't see any reason why the P&T wouldn't fit either.

I think they have clips at the side of the cocoon that hook onto the D rings on the seat where the harness meets the seat. I know the Graco soft carrycots have them.

Hi Honey! Grin

I'm being ever so good at the mo and still only have the Aprica and Bee+

TwinkleWunkleChristmasStar · 30/12/2011 15:46

Hi Honey!
I would get the Bugaboo Bee cocoon too. It will last you maybe up to a year depending on the size of your baby and was fab for us.

TwinkleWunkleChristmasStar · 30/12/2011 15:47

The Bee cocoon uses the standard harnesses but they have long slits to post them through so that it's simple to pick the baby out still in the cocoon if you wish.

Honeydragon · 30/12/2011 15:48

Tiggy I thought you used it, my friend has a single mountain buggy and used the bee cocoon and it looked lovely and snuggly.

TwinkleWunkleChristmasStar · 30/12/2011 16:19

It was fab. Putting my baby in it was like flicking the off switch. You could count to ten and he would be asleep every time. I hestitated because of the price but it turned out to be one of my best buys and lasted far longer than a soft cot would have.

mistressploppy · 30/12/2011 18:05

Thanks everyone. I love the look of the Bee cocoon but it doesn't seem to have carrying straps like the P&T ones, unless I'm missing something? We have a flight of steps up to our front door and I think it'd be useful to pluck him out of the buggy still in his cocoon and lug him up the stairs

Check out www.snunkie.co.uk - they do bespoke stuff including babynests. If you wanted carry handles on they could add them perhaps, they are very good about doing request stuff if they can. A friend of mine has the Bee and she got all her fabric/nest/cosytoes from Snunkie and they're gorgeous.

Honeydragon · 30/12/2011 18:13

Use the p&t they are lovely and functional, just not as pretty as the bee ones Grin

misdee · 30/12/2011 18:20

the p=t one wont work. the duet seats dont lie totally flat and the cocoon would just slide out of place and wind up on the floor.

mistressploppy · 30/12/2011 19:13

Do the P&T ones not have clips or slits for straps then?

OP posts:
misdee · 30/12/2011 23:18

nope. they dont have any internal harness or holes for any.

TinyPenguin · 05/01/2012 12:54

I've got a Duet & bought a petit star zia cocoon/carrycot for my newborn. It fits perfectly and means I have him parent facing. The clips for the frame fit perfectly into the chassis to hold it in place. It's a snug fit as well so doesn't wobble around. The only downside is it won't last for ages but then my first child was only in their carrycot till 4 months anyway. It cost me £16 on eBay inc. delivery do much more favourable than £140 from mountain buggy!!

Finn77 · 09/01/2012 09:40

I don't have the duet, but the MB Swift and I used a P&T vibe cocoon with it. Works brilliantly. All you have to do to keep it from sliding out is to thread the harness straps through the cocoon handles underneath. Its then totally secure and firm, it'll be going nowhere. Baby loved it! Bought secondhand on ebay and it was as good as new.

Kerrygem80 · 04/12/2013 15:39

Hi there I was wondering if you could provide some firther info about fitting the petite star zia cocoon on to the duet chassis...do you think two of these would fit and do they just lie in the seat when its reclined or does the seat unit have to be taken off?
Many thanks

hi i have currently bought a mountain buggy duet too and dont wish to shell out further money on a £140 carrycot has anyone got any pictures with the different carrycots on and which theyve found best to use please?

Kezbella · 07/03/2019 17:46

Hi

Could anyone tell me please if any of the Cocoons will fit a Maxi Cosi Dana for 2? Someone said maybe the Mountain buggy Cocoon? I have seen someone with the Maxi Cosi Dana for 2 with a Cocoon/ carrycot in it but not sure what one it was. Please help. Thank you!!

BlueRaincoat89 · 15/01/2020 17:33

Could anybody tell me how the Bugaboo cocoon attaches to the Duet? Looking to see if we should get one that lasts a bit longer rather than the Mountain Buggy cocoon.

JanewaysBun · 20/01/2020 20:29

You thread the straps through then strap the baby in, works well
