Just bought a Britax B Dual, have a quick question...

Took it out for the first time today. Boy is it massive! I hope I'll get used to it though.

I've got a 10 week old and a two year old. Today I had the baby on the bottom seat in the flat position but I can see that he's going to be hanging off the end soon. So, I'm going to buy the soft carry cot. can anyone;
a - tell me how long an "average" size baby fits into the carry cot (how long will I get for my £70)?. And...
b - can I put the soft carry cot on the top seat instead of the bottom. And finally...
C - does anyone carry a newborn on the top seat with it in the flat position with no car seat / carry cot?

I really want the baby to face me and am trying to work out the best way of achieving this. I have a car seat but don't want to use it too often with him.

Thanks!

I can't answer a) properly but the soft cots are bigger than average and I was told they could be used as a cosy toes later on. They extend well into the basket. B) yes they can be used in the upper position. One reason I suggest using the soft cot in the bottom is because putting the baby on the top will compromise the toddler. I think you could probably do it without the baby in a soft cot in the upper seat. Sadly good rear facing is hard to get in a double, especially a tandem.

Thanks. I know I could have got something better but the b dual was as much as I was willing to spend! Still can't quite believe how massive it is though.

To be honest having tested over 20 doubles this year, it's hard to find a tandem pushchair that is as good an all rounder as the B-Dual. It's the best all round tandem currently on the market IMHO.

It's smaller than a lot of Phil and Teds, but uses the space much more so feels bulkier. It means there's more space for the children and much more basket space.

I agree. It's definitely smaller lengthwise than some Phil&Teds. The hood height is nearly the same. When you see someone else out with a B-Dual it looks very neat and relatively small! But the way the seats are laid out as aswellasyou says, means the child has tons more space underneath than in a P&Ts and you get the fab useable basket too.
Enjoy!

You'll get used to the size. I don't feel like it's very big at all, especially not now. But before we got this we had a kolcraft contours. Now that is a beast, the b dual is positively small in comparison! Xmas Grin

Oh I was going to say, the annoying thing about having the top seat rear facing is that you have to do it without the adapters that move the top seat forward. Those adapters will only allow the seat to be forward facing. I find it really stupid, they really should change that (if they haven't already on the 2012 version). So anyway, that means that even with the legrest on the top seat pivoted upwards, there's still not much room for the bottom child. We found it tight even with two 1 year olds who aren't very tall so I imagine it'd be far too tight with a 2 year old.
