Pushchairs
New to this and clueless!

Help! I have had a look at prams in Mothercare and M&Ps. I am expecting my first DC in May, but I am so confused! My needs are a pushchair from childbirth. One that folds (for the car), but one that is light, as we live in a first floor flat! I intend to be strolling a lot from the start (well, if that is not being too naive) as I won't get any visitors during the day.
Am I looking I looking at two different pushchairs to meet all these needs? In that case the budget would be £500 for both.
Responses are very gratefully received! Hx

Bugaboo bee plus does from
Birth, mcclaren techno xt also - have used/ will use both from birth. I mention these as our criteria were they should be
Light (under 10 kilo) so can lift up stairs and fold up small.
Mcclaren is not the most luxurious but has lasted beautifully, travelled round world with us and is great now dd1 older. Bee is an experiment but I like it as with the snuggle cot is pramlike at birth but turns into a stroller And is very neat for a buggy board for dd1.
Am sure one of the really knowledgeable types will be along soon . I think there ar some good quinnys that might fit your needs but I don't think you need 2 (and besides although mcclaren about 200 quid a lot of new travel systems / buggies can be 400/500 quid (or more) if new and with extras like foot muff). There is always second hand tho

The other option is a sling- I used that far more with dd as a baby than the buggy

You certainly don't need two pushchairs :) Just buy the right one to suit your needs.
First of all could you leave the pushchair in the car, or does the pushchair need to go upstairs with you?
If it's the former then you could buy whatever will fit in your car, if it's the latter I would suggest a Britax B-Agile or a Baby Jogger City Mini (3 or 4) or the new GT (or possibly even the new Baby Jogger Versa), or a lie flat umbrella fold like the Maclaren XT. You should be able to fold these one handed and carry the baby up in the other hand.

Baby jogger city mini would be perfect - much more user friendly than a maclaren (which is a faff to recline) and better features (e.g the huge hood and basket). I have the 4 wheeler and its really easy to push and is built so solidly, it's fantastic!

Thank you for your replies. I thought I would need one with a carry cot, but I guess not. I also like the idea of a sling. Hope to buy something in the sales! Thanks again Hx

As long as the pushchair seat says suitable from birth then you don't need a carrycot, but most of the above suggestions take a carrycot if you wish. You could look into using something like a Bugaboo Cocoon or Petit Zia soft cot in a lie flat pushchair too. But with the above you should be able to carry the pushchair up with one hand and a carrycot in the other if you wanted to. Or even attach a carrying strap to the pushchair so it could go on your back like the iCandy Peach has.

I'd be looking at the new baby jogger versa or easywalker June, released by summer and march respectively.
here
and here
They'd both be great IMO. If you do have to take the pushchair upstairs then it's definitely going to have to either have good tyres/suspension or be very very light (and fold in one piece).
The bee would also be good but the wheels are small.

Also look at the Micralite Superlite with a carrycot, Micralite Toro and Jane Rider (can parent face).
