Baby Jogger City Mini 3 Wheeler vs 4 Wheeler

Hi,

I've had a 3 wheeler BJCM for nearly 2 years and it's just about worn out. The rubber tyres are coming off the wheel rims so it's not going to last much longer.

I want another BJCM but not sure whether to go for the 4 wheeler this time. Has anyone tried both? How do they compare? Is the 4 wheeler as manoeuvrable as the 3 wheeler?

I find the 3 wheeler a bit tippy sometimes but it doesn't bother me as I'm aware of it, but my DH nearly tipped it over sideways yesterday when we crossed a steeply sloping path and it gave him a bit of a fright!

Ideally I want the new GT, but I don't think my BJCM is going to last until it comes out!

Thank you

First of all don't bin your BJCM. Phone Kooltrade up and request a set of new wheels and as long as yours is a UK pushchair, they will send you some our under the lifetime warranty - even if you bought it second hand.

I have had both and there is one difference - stability! The BJCM4 is solid as a rock. If you get the BJCM4 you would get the standard 2011 changes anyway ie sit upright strap, PE board, excessive amounts of fixing straps behind the basket and possibly if your BJCM is old you may notice the 2010 bigger basket.

I much prefer the BJCM4 but if you want the GT it may better for you to live with your new wheeled 3 wheeler for six months?

Thanks Twinkle.

I called Kooltrade a few weeks ago, and the person I spoke to said the wheels weren't covered under the lifetime warranty. Better give them another call tomorrow!

Hmm, ask to speak to Kylie. As I understand it, it is just fabrics which aren't covered. Someone on here got new wheels a month or two ago. Maybe have a search on here for the relevant post from the person who got them?

Well, called Kooltrade again today.

Wheels are only covered for 1 year, and as I need all three replaced it will cost £89 including shipping. My handle bar grip has split as well which they would throw in for free (usually £5+ vat), but I'm just going to order a new 3 wheel city mini for £150 from Halfords. I may as well have a new one for an extra £60, and see if I can make a few ££ selling the good bits of the old one.

Really????? Hmm someone else got new wheels recently! I am seeing the Kooltrade rep tomorrow so will check the warranty details for future reference!

It will be interesting to hear if they say the same thing as customer services.

I will be asking because my City Select wheels needed replacing and I was fretting about getting the request in within the year guarantee. But it was the rep who told me not to worry as they were covered by the lifetime warranty which is on all BJ products excluding fabrics. That's not to say things haven't changed though...I will ask, because I need to know.

if the rubber was coming off the wheel rims after only 2 years, i would be expecting them to replace free of charge as the item was not fit for purpose a warrenty is only a guide your rights go past this

I have chased this up for you. As yet we don't have an answer but I will PM you when I get a reply back.

bunnynose · 01/12/2011 16:32

Thanks Twinkle, look forward to hearing what they have to say.
