Garden buggy shelter

I'm expecting our second and as well as being in the market for a double buggy, I'm looking for a way of storing the thing outside next to the back gate, so it doesn't clog up our hallway. I'm thinking some kind of shelter, rather than a shed, so its easier to get in and out. Does anybody else keep their buggy outside and is it ok, esp. in the winter, and does anybody have any bright ideas for a suitable shelter? many thanks in advance.

It would go mouldy, even if in a shed ir garage. I kept mine in the car boot - didn't go mouldy in there Smile

Buy one that is freestanding when it's folded up?

Any dirt/dribble at all goes mouldy very easily.

yes, it would go mouldy and i have wrecked puchchairs storing them in the shed or outside under cover, had to take it to the tip, it seized up Sad

I've left pushchairs in a brick shed and they went mouldy...Luckily they were old ones i wasn't that bothered about...A couple last winter lived in the greenhouse and they were fine, no mould at all...But the greenhouse was quite airy and obviously would warm up to a degree when the sun shone on it.

Oh no, not what I wanted to hear! Thanks though, glad I asked here first. Can anybody recommend a freestanding when folded double buggy then?

A Donkey freestands when folded but it is big and bulky...A dream to push though.

The B-Dual, Hauck Duett are tandems that freestand with both seats on. Most twin ie side by sides freestand if you stand them on their side rather than wheels down IYKWIM. The Baby Jogger City Select is small folded. If you pop the big wheels off it easily slides into a gap or behind a sofa or door. The seats too are really slim and flat. I used to hang both my seats off a doorway using those over door hangers from Argos or Next. The City Select will also fold with both seats on in a chunk but needs folding indoors. The Baby Jogger City Mini is very slim too especially with the rear wheels off. The Baby Jogger wheels are easy to pop on and off. I you have a look at buggy.co.uk Best Buggy there's lots of photos of double pushchairs folded and next to each other in the side by side comparisons part to show relative size. The Uppababy Vista also freestands and the Rumble set just sits on top. There's a lot of options really....more than I have put here. It just depends on your space. Do you need long, flat and slim, or small squarer but taller footprint?

I have stored my prams outside for the past 21months (since DD born) and never had any problems with mould. I started off using a Tidy Tent which was great but zip started sticking/breaking after being opened/closed at least twice a day for about 9months... We now have a Keter shed which is more robust. It makes such a difference storing the pram outside without having to get it up the steps to our house and without getting muddy wheels in the house!

Thanks Asyouwere, and also Peachy for the advice on models. Others who have had mould problems, were you using the buggies on a daily basis or actually storing them? If not being used at all and permenantly in cold/damp atmosphere then maybe that is why they went mouldy?

folded and not used for a fews weeks, even if use it everyday it still will spend its life outside and if it rains while you are out, it will never dry it in the winter, i still think you will damage it and it will get damp and dirty, through the summer fine, but would you really want to put a baby in a cold, poss damp pushchair, and the cold will affect the puschair frame and moving parts over time.
