Can anyone recommend a rear facing all terrain?

Ds is nearly 2 and I think he would prefer to be rear facing again.

I need something that can cope with a bit of rough ground though.

Any suggestions?

It depends on your budget and if it needs to be small-ish folded. I have a Bugaboo Gecko that's great off road. Presumably the Cameleon or Frog would work too. There's the Maxi-Cosi Mura but I think that's quite big and heavy. The Babystyle Oyster with air tyres could work, but not on really rough ground.

Thanks for the speedy reply.

Not keen on the oyster tbh.

Have had a cameleon before so may look at another. Never used it off road though, are they ok?

Space not an issue and will be buying second hand.

An ICandy Apple jogger? The Chameleon is pretty good off road if you flip the handle around. Would a Mutsy Urban Rider seat unit go both ways? I had the Duo and it was awesome. It drove straight up and over anything and everything! Its the best off roader I have had!

I only know for sure about the Gecko which is similar in many ways to the Cameleon. I've taken my Gecko into really bumpy tracks and over tree roots and so on. It's fairly bouncy, but isn't any effort at all to push over that sort of ground.

I think I'd be looking for something with big air tyres anyway. I suddenly can't think of other rear facing pushchairs with air tyres. Hmm

Tiggywunkle · 26/10/2011 15:30

The Mutsy will parent face and has huge air tyres :)
Is the Herqules good off road?

Tabitha8 · 26/10/2011 18:15

The Bugaboo snow wheels work really well on the Cameleon.

Another one is the M&P Ultima on Excel chassis.

Does the Mutsy have suspension? They look nice, don't they?

How about Emmaljunga?

Tiggywunkle · 26/10/2011 18:28

I don't know about the Mutsy suspension but the air tyres are huge and it's the bounciest pushchair I have tried. Fabulous! I used to love driving it head first with two children on up small steps and kerbs! A lot of fun!

Britax Vigour...The original version as it has air tyres...One of my favorite and it pushed as good as a Frog/Cameleon...Or you can get all terrain tyres for Frog/Gecko/Cameleon which work well.

I had a maxi cosi mura ages ago and it was hopeless!! Bit tyres, but no real suspension to speak of, so incredibly uncomfortable and jarring for little one. The Cameleon coped much better with my river and woodland walks :)

how about the bebe confort high trek?

here

Another vote for bugaboo C

Use mine daily on rough terrain and across fields etc.

Daisybell1 · 27/10/2011 21:13

So far mine seems to be pretty good off road, and the bridleway down from the farm is pretty rutted. It is a bit jogglier than I thought it would be but I haven't compared it to anything else on that track yet... Also i'm using it in carrycot mode so would expect LO to bounce around more than in the pushchair mode.

From what I remember, the herqules and the teutonia are two of a limited number of parent facing off roaders. They are both absolute tanks though!

sillywmama · 28/10/2011 09:49

how about a Jane 360 reverse?

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 28/10/2011 14:49

I've got a 4 wheeler mutsy urban rider, it can handle anything, seat faces both ways, and is a generous size and has a great hood, love it. Recently went to a rugby festival with it and it made mincemeat of all the uneven rocky paths to the local pitch, suspensions pretty impressive too!
