Xplory in the boot of a Micra??

Hello - I need your help!!
We want to buy (or have bought for us as Mum is awesome!) a Stokke Xplory for our upcoming arrival. But we only have a little Nissan Micra (5 door, 2003 model, so the newer shape) and according to the manufacturer's folded dimensions it won't fit lengthways. The only stores anywhere near us that stock it in the shop are in London or Bristol (1.5 hours each) and are on main shopping streets where we can't park up outside.
I called Mothercare and, although they stick the Xplory online, they can't get one into store for us to try in the boot like all their other buggies, unless we ordered and paid for one and then sent it back if it didn't fit (this seemed reasonable to my partner, but I was a bit miffed that we'd have to fork out the money and possibly have the hassle of sending it back). But the woman on the desk said that she thought it would definitely fit...
So I'm confused!
Has anyone managed to fit an Xplory in a Nissan Micra 2003??? Or do you know anyone who has??? Please help!

Couldn't help you with boot measurements etc, but as its your first pram can I ask if you live in an urban area with v smooth pavements? No rough surfaces or cobbles or older uneven areas of paving? It's just the stokke has no suspension. So its great on smooth pavements and in shopping centers etc and its a pram with many nice features but for me I definately need suspension due to the variety of terrain we tackle.
I have the uppababy Vista, which also has a high seat, and good shock absorbing suspension too. Comfortable for baby and also for me to push (as it stops every rattle and jolt being transferred from chassis to pushers arms).
Perhaps the stokke website will have the folded dimensions on it?

My instinct is that it won't fit and I wouldn't buy it anyway. I found the dimensions of my Mum's boot online that claimed it was something like 110x75x65, but in fact that's the absolute maximum dimensions. In reality, the pushchair needs to be around 100x50x40, depending on the shape, to fit in which is a massive difference.

For comparison vs the Vista;
Stokke Xplory 43x58x101cm
Uppababy Vista 81x46x67cm, but the wheels removed makes it 81x38x53

Have a look at this website. Right at the bottom it shows the Stokke Xplory folded and it does look long. I have a Megane and it would fit with about 6cms spare. But folded size is not a rectangular block. It may be that a thinner part or a curved part may fit in when a rectangle wouldn't go IYkWIM. Fir example we often have several pushchairs in our boot. Two are wedge shaped folded and one is long. The latter you would think was cuboid but it only fits if the handles are facing one way. The wedge shaped ones fit with the thinnest parts in a gap and the thicker parts in a larger space. The Xplory also folds in two parts so you could find the chassis fits but the seat can go on the back seat. So honestly, I think you need to try it if you are that keen. But I would seriously not buy such an unusual pushchair without seeing it first. I thought I knew exactly what I wanted first time but ended up with something different! I am sure the shops could find a way for you to try the Xplory in your car.

Those folded dimensions say 94x56x49.5cm, which is completely different to the ones I found here. If you would rather try it before buying it, you can usually make an appointment to have a member of staff go with you to your car to try it in your boot. That way, you can also see what it's like on pavements, but with no weight in it.

Lol I would take a heavy 12kg or so bag with you to it in the seat to see how it handles with an older toddler on board :)

When I went shopping for a double with Saoirse, my daughter was asleep so we put Saoirse's daughter in one seat and piled our handbags and shopping bags into the other seat. Grin All pushchair shops should provide heavy dolls to try the seats out (I know some do) so you can tell what it really feels like with a child in.

i have owned a stokke xplory and although i loved it, it did have its faults, ie no suspension, and if you put too much weight in the basket it can end up being heavy to lift up kerbs [shopping basket over front wheels], they are lovely to push though and can be adjusted to suit you height in everyway, ie seat height, handle height, position of handle. they are very long folded and a funny shape and the seat is not the easiest to take off when in parent facing mode as the handle bar has to go through the gap inbetween the seat and footrest, it can be done just a bit of a pain, i rarely folded mine down, so got round this. i now own a mima xari and honestly it wipes the floor with the stokke, it is better in everyway, it still has the high seat unit, it comes with carrycot already in with the price, has suspension, the baskets would take the same amount of shopping, you would be able to hang your changing bag round the handle,[ you can not on the stokke], it looks so much nicer and it just glides along and still looks lovely with seat facing outwards when lo is older the stokke looks a bit odd i think facing outwards, the seat unit can be parent facing and outward facing, the fabric it is made out of is fab, marks just wipe off or stuborn marks rub off with a rubber. they are a tad more than a stokke with carrycot, but so much worth the extra bit, the mima xari is my all time fav pushchair and i have owned alot, and alot of them were top brand names. the mima xari get 10 out of 10 from me

look on Stokke lovers facebook page, there are lots of photos of the Xplory in various sized boots some surprisingly small.

I love the Xplory and i have had plenty of pushchairs over the years with all my kids. It doesn't have bouncy suspension but there does seem to be some built in to the back wheels as I find it nice to push and not rattly. Very comfy for baby too.

I have to say I second the Xari. I had the Kobi and it is an absolutely stunning pushchair and a pleasure to use. The quality is unlike any other pushchair I have seen. Highly recommended here too.

if a stokke fitted or nearly fitted, then i would say a xari would fit for def, its a smaller fold, but if you go to jl, they may try it in your boot, although check the link as only certain jl stock them

I've got a 3 door micra, the back seat can be moved forwards quite a bit, i've done it with mine to fit my pram in better. You do lose leg room though, but if it's just the baby in the back, then it's fine.

The explory might fit at an angle?

The Stokke Lovers facebook page has a picture of an Xplory in the boot of a Micra. Looks like a squeee but it is in there.

thanks all!
We were really happy with the xplory when we went to see it (were in London so didn't have the car with us), so I think we're going to order it from mothercare and then send it back if it doesn't fit (as much as I object!!).
Thanks for your help :-)
