How do I use the tube with a bugaboo bee

This is probably a ridiculous question but....

DD is 12w and I need to get from south to north London, using at least 3 stations with lots of stairs and escalators and no lifts.

What do I do on escalators? Do I need to take her out of the buggy?

This will be our longest solo journey so far, and I have not taken her on the tube yet and am starting to worry!

Use a sling instead? Or use a sling and fold and carry the buggy if you need the buggy at the other end.

I always left mine strapped in and didn't have any problems. I think you are supposed to carry them and fold the buggy and somehow balance both - seems more dangerous to me and have not seen anyone do that.

If you encounter any stairs you may be lucky and ifnd people help you carry the buggy or may be left struggling by yourself as people ignore you!

Yes, it's the carrying and folding buggy bit that worries me.

Not quite sure how to do that logistically and seems less safe to me.

You cant fold and hold the buggy - its a sling job for that many stairs and changes - if it was just one I would use a buggy but with that many its a sling.

where exactly are you going - I am a master at south to north with step free access - it would be my MN olympic sport

I always left DD strapped in on escalators and stairs, it felt safer to me than carrying her in one arm and the pushchair in the other. I found people seldom helped me, but maybe I was just unlucky.

But, there is no doubt it would be much easier with a sling. Or can you get a bus or walk to a station with a lift?

Thanks all. She must be the only baby in the world that hates being in a sling! I have a Moby and Baby Bjorn, I'll probably give the Moby a go.

I need the buggy at the other end as staying with people for a few days.

can you go to clapham junction from balham -both now have lifts and then get the overground to highbury or thereabouts...hmm let me think again...or balham-clapham junction-vauxhall-tottenham...so is there a bus that goes from balham to vauxhall? Then you've only got one set of escalators at the south end and one at tottenham?

I would avoid changing at victoria with a buggy like the plague...

I have used my bugaboo bee lots of times on escalators and all fine. I always found the thought of it much scarier than the execution. Would you mind me asking your journey in case I can help you with a less non life route. I am constantly going across London on public transport, buggy and children!

Oh and kept DD strapped in buggy and never took her out!

bees fine on stairs and public transport, I just carried it by the two top curvy bits on my hip iyswim. made sure dd was well strapped in though

Thanks all. Planned route was Balham to Stockwell on northern line, then Victoria line to Tottenham Hale, then need to get a train into deepest Essex!

Have been though Clapham Junction a lot and it's a flipping nightmare, even with the lifts and so horribly busy that I would rather avoid if possible

Got to slay those tube demons at some point!

I kept Robyn in her Citisport, going down the escalators, when using the tube system.

I am not an expert but according to my understanding of this, then your planned route involves little or no stairs except getting on the train at Balham. You had better check though too!

I am sure TBH that you will be fine, it should be easy to carry a bee with a little one tightly strapped in, obviously don't take her out on escalators, and people are usually happy to help though not everyone and not immediately. Just try to wear flat grippy shoes and not have lots of bags! (and beware of pickpockets while you are distracted!).
