Fake Bugaboo? Help!

Hope that one of you experts can help as am quietly panicking that I have been well and truly 'had'. I have just bought one of these bugaboos (hope link has worked below - very new to this!) and a friend has just said is far too good to be true, so must be a fake. :(

cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220809245577&category=66700&_trksid=p5197.c0.m619

Does anyone have a clue about how I find out? I paid on paypal yesterday so presume I could get money back at the moment? Or should I wait for it to arrive (been told 15 days), hope for the best and then deal with it if it isn't real? AGGGHHHHH!!! What have I done?!

Thank you so much for any help with this.

Sorry to read about your ordeal, Mothercare do 20% off discount codes at times and also it can be worth ringing any local pushchairs stores as you can usually get a 10% discount, maybe more if you haggle. Best of luck!

Hi, just open a paypal dispute, they will help

Bunnyboo1 · 05/08/2011 10:27

Just wanted to thank you all for all your advice, sympathy and tips.

I had to go via Ebay/Paypal in the end to get a refund, but ended up feeling really sorry for the seller as she had obviously been 'had' by her supplier. Although she said she was going to keep the buggy and use it for her baby! Having seen the workmanship on it, I couldn't believe it, but she seemed happy with the arrangement.

Anyway, thanks so much again and will definitely be on the look out for 20% discount codes for Mothercare Purplebuns. Sounds just what I need! Thanks!

Bunnyboo, I wouldn't feel too sorry for the seller who is claiming to have been "had" by her supplier....for one she was potentially making a lot of profit out of the deal in the first place (buying cheap selling expensive) and secondly she could be just playing this part of "innocent/ daft" to try and save herself further trouble. I would doubt she even has a baby she intends to use it for, and may even sell locally to someone else.
Why haven't the police been involved? Counterfeit goods are supposed to be seized while the crime is investigated.
The seller is a criminal. She sold you counterfeit goods.
This fake is not fulfilling any safety standards and could be lethal if used.

Bunnyboo1 · 05/08/2011 11:59

MonkeysPunk I absolutely agree. I sent the seller links to the British Standards advice and told her to get trading standards involved in her dispute with her seller. I didn't report it to police though, maybe I should have. I thought that Ebay would do this or at least take it further.

I was pretty unimpressed by the 'support' from them - not least finding a contact number to actually ask about what to do! However, they told me in no uncertain terms that I had to return the pram to the seller before any refund would be issued! Was VERY surprised by this I have to say as I didn't expect to have to pay to do this when the item was by the sellers own admission not as discribed. Learned a fair bit through this I must say!

Anyway, you're absolutely right. She probably knew more than she's admitted!

I am shocked to hear how sh*te eBay have been over this. They are really not taking it seriously. I can't understand you having to return the "evidence" in order to get your refund either. Have you asked them for compensation for this postage? I would.
Did you tell them the baby item supplied didn't meet safety standards and therefore was potentially lethal?
I know at the time you were probably just relieved to get your money back (i would have been!). It's shocking to find eBay so casual about this situation. Are bugaboo wanting to take legal action against the seller?
