Prams/pushchairs with large sturdy shopping basket for non-car owners

Hi, I am in the middle of my tediuos research into the world of suitable pram/pushchairs. As we don't have a car, I need one which has a sturdy, accessible shopping basket which I can load heavy shopping into without worrying about it breaking. The baskets I have seen so far are very similar and surprisingly poorly attached (in my view) - apart from Emmaljunga or similar more traditional prams with metal shopping trays. Icandy Peach looks one of the best of the fabric baskets (but what is it with their secrecy over pricing - it has put me off!).

Would consider something that converts from lying 100% flat to a pushchair, or one with separate attachments. We are both quite tall so adjustable height on the handles is also quite important. Any suggestions appreciated! Thanks

It all depends on your usage too as there is no point in buying something with a massive basket if it won't fit on public transport or is no good for walking long distances and which kind of terrain are you likely to be travelling on?

The best pushchair baskets I have had are definately my Emmaljunga Ceox and my M&P 03 Sport which are both big fabric baskets.

My Emmaljunga once held a pack of nappies, bread, 2x 2ltr juice and 2ltr milk which admittedly was a slight strain but to me that was a lot and the 03 held a bit less than this but not much less.

Another pushchair which I have'nt owned but have used is the Graco Quattro Sport which has a MASSIVE drop down basket which holds a fair bit too.

I have a silvercross linear freeway which sounds like what you're asking for. It lays flat and converts to a sit up pushchair, facing either way. Fabric basket but you can stuff alot in there. I don't drive, and found it great. Adjustable handle too.

Thanks for all your suggestions I'll have a look a the models you suggest. Re. terrain, it will be used from going to/from town on foot (I'm going to avoid the buses - I use them now, but can't face using them when Tiny arrives. I don't like cars, but I realise that it won't be long before we'll have to have one, hopefully that'll be sorted before we have to go further afield.

Uppababy Vista is awesome the biggest easiest to access basket on the nicest easiest to push pushchair / pram I have tried.
I think its a fab product for all round versatile use. It is fab for shopping malls, easily manouverable, can turn on a pin. Fab for pavement pounding, the grocery shopping. Ace on the school run. Brilliant for family picnics (will tackle moderate off road due to huge wheels and suspension), and I always feel my boy has the best, most luxurious seat to rest in. He is very relaxed and comfy when in this stroller.
For me, its v easy to push. Great quality wheels with ultra smooth sealed ball bearing units. The lightest push and those wheels just keep on turning!

Ps the Vista could be used on the bus at a pinch as it folds in one piece with the pushchair seat on ff. This will also mean its convenient for the car boot if you get a car eventually.
The carry cot has an organic lining and its suitable for overnight sleeping. The carry cot and insect and raincovers are included in the price. It's excellent value for money!

The best basket I know by far is the one on the Baby Jogger City Select. It is huge and holds tons without even flinching! I have had some very heavy loads in it plus changing bags. You can fold it with the seat on easily and has an extending handle. The iCandy Peach and Strawberry have good large accessible baskets too. The iCandy prices are on their website in open for all to read :) The Uppababy Vista basket is very large too. Single Phil&Teds have large baskets as well, plus you can add panniers. They all have adjustable handles but some have say 3 settings and others have several more.
