Pushchairs
Doe anyone have any opinions on the followin double buggies....

I need to get a double buggy dd is 2.6 and baby due in 2 weeks, i dont drive and have got a single pram and buggy board but want a back up for long days/winter etc.
Have looked at the following and wondered if anyone had any experience of any.
Pros/cons much appreciated.
Silvercross pop duo
Mclaren techno
Baby jogger city mini
M&P skate with toddler seat
OR any reccomendations grateful.
Will most likely be buying 2nd hand

I had a Mothercare Urban Detour 3 wheeler, I absolutely loved it.
All of the seats on the others seemed a bit on the small side.
It is rather wide though, but I would have another tomorrow (without even considering anything else)

I didn't want a 3 wheeler and I hate the Phil and Ted 'only one of my children deserves a view of the world' approach. We went for an Out and About Nipper which is fantastic. Incredibly light and reasonably narrow, can get into normal 'single' width shop doorways. Is amazingly easy to collapse and fold out too. A friend who loved her P&T's for first child has also bought one after seeing, and lifting, mine!

Out of your list there is no doubt that the Baby Jogger City Mini stands out for me as the best. However what do you use a pushchair for because the BJCM storage access is really poor and I got fed up of pushing individual tins through the tiny gaps. The Elite is much nicer and not much bigger. Top of my doubles list though would be the Mountain Buggy Duet followed by the B-Dual. But if you said you simply walk from a to b then the Phil and Teds are a good option. The Nipper 360 has a good reputation too. May I suggest you go and have a look at Best Buggy and try out the Pushchair Comparison tool. There is no perfect pushchair out there and which is right really depends on your situation. Just to affront even consider the Skate. It is awful. Impossible to lift up kerbs - and I do mean impossible - the toddler is hemmed in at the back and the M&P representative recommended my toddler went in the main seat and my six month old totally out of sight in the junior seat. I left the shop pretty fast after that!

I had a Nipper. Great for the first 18 months or so but I then changed it because the bucket seats mean the children can't really sit up and see about so they'd just bicker instead!

Skate double seat would be a bit small for a toddler, silver cross pop is a bit flimsy, maclaren and baby jogger prob. The best bet.

ooooh mixed reviews 
Am not a massive fan generally of 3 wheels or bulky, are any of the above bulky lol??
Am to not keen on the phil n teds approach, what bout the side by side version??
Do we think sideby side generally rather than tandem?
Also the BJCM - has anyone put a newborn in it?

I had my newborn in one a couple of times. She was a good weight tho 8lb 13, I think smaller would be a bit lost in it. If you can stretch to one of hos sheepskin liners I think it would make it more cozy for them.

you can get a carrycot for the BJCM now can't you?

Yes the carrycots for the BJCM arrived this week. I used a Bugaboo Cocoon in my BJCM from very young and it worked great and transferred to other pushchairs to give a similar environment for the baby.
