houdini 21 month old and parent facing recommendations

my son has been parent facing from birth we have been in the vigour3 for months now but recently he has been screaming and making his body rigid and wont go in the pushchair- when he does go in he escapes- ive even added reins to the pushchair harness.
i think its an independence growth developmental thing-saying that he did give in today and fell asleep in it!
my dad sometimes looks after him and the vigour is too big for his car- i bought a m+p pulse v cheaply second hand but he WONT go int that at all!!
ideally i need a new short term pushchair that is light and manageable with one hand with a good un escapable harness, parent facing and recline feature and small and compact!! also as cheap as chips.
i cannot justify spending more than £60 so no bees for me.
i dont mind old fashioned!
what are venezia things like? or something with a rev handle? or ??

I don't have any advice re the pushchair but I have two different harness clips to stop escapees. I bought them after my daughter had a huge tantrum one day and haven't needed them to date! One is the Houdini strap. The other was I believe by Clippasafe? I found it on Amazon. They may be a cheaper solution for you?

Something like this might help to stop him escaping current pushchairs. Or does he undo the clips?
The Mamas and Papas MPX or Venezia, Bebecar Multipla or an old fashioned pram along these lines go cheap on eBay.

don,t go for anything by mamas and papas, they have freedom harnesses and my dd can easily get out of them no matter how tight i do the straps up and you have to have a willing child in the first place to be able to get the reins on as they are not fixed to the back and so will be laying in the seat bit (so one arm holding baby other trying to sort out tangled reins, you now need a third hand to help you get child in reins nightmere) and remember any pushchair that has a reversable handle when it is parent facing the swivel wheels that were at the front are now locked at the back and you are left with a fixed wheel pram that was not really designed to be a fixed wheel pram and so are really difficult to steer etc, if you can get the waist strap tight then usually they can only get as far as their arms out, but can not get past the waist but it does have to be fairly tight (not too tight you can not get your fingers between baby and reins though) you could also try pram toys

i he slips his shoulders then arm out of the straps.
a mum yesteday said wrap his harness around the reins-which worked a bit,
strong willed children-ahh!
i still ideally need a new pushchair/pram though-lightweight and compact and pref parent facing- not mind if in 2 pieces.

Mamas and Papas pushchairs have a freedom harness which was wonderful with my DS who did'nt like being restrained by the harness.

The MPX can be picked up cheaply on Ebay and sounds exactly what you are looking for :)

I agree that a freedom harness is probably better as he won't feel so restricted but will still be safely secured.

There's an old fashioned mamas and papas sherpa, which will parent face. Sometimes on eBay, usually within your budget. It has a built on toddler step too, so he could stand on that if he really doesn't want to sit. He might find that fun, and makes him feel he has a little control on his situation, but really you are still in charge and he's still on the buggy one way it another!
Or try a bebe confort trophy (old fashioned, off eBay again) that will parent face too.

mine needed to see the world at this stage, forward facing would probably help.

also teaching them early to stay in the buggy themselves. didn't use harnesses after they were 2, with the more compliant elder one, a bit earlier.

teach them to say stop, look and then they can get down and look at the ladybird on a snail if you've time to stop, and have a little walk along with you now and then.

mine would have gone nuts being pinned in and starting at me the whole time.

THANK YOU-it is a power thing that he is going through because later on on the day i initially wrote he ran out of this room into the other- i went to see what he was doing and he was sat in his pushchair- swinging his legs adn laughing!!
i'll try him parent facing-he is going to be going to a child minder part time in september so need hi use to forward facing too.
