HELP! Pushchair advice required!

Any help and advice about buying a pushchair/travel system will be greatfully received! I think I found it easier to pick a car than a pushchair!

I need a fairly lightweight & compact (to fit in boot of a toyota yaris) foldable pushchair to use from birth with option of car seat for city use but possibly some longer walks. Not decided on carry cot yet as not sure if this is worthwhile (advice also required!). Plus don't really want to have to buy ANOTHER buggy for when the baby is a bit older so if there is one that lasts from birth to walking, let me know! I don't want to spend an absolute fortune (but will also look at second hand once I have a better idea of makes/ models!). Adjustable handles are important as me and hubbie are about a foot difference in height!

So far from looking I quite like the look of Silvercross Surf (does this last all the way up until baby is walking?). Also thought the silver cross 3d looked good but some bad reviews. Have also see the Red castle citylink/ citylink2 (can't tell what the difference is between them both) but only stockist is on South coast and I'm in Scotland. Really good price but would I be STUPID to buy without trying??

HELP!!!!

Mountain Buggy Swift or Breeze (see here for a great price on a Breeze
Britax B-Mobile
Maclaren XLR or the new Grand Tour LX
Bugaboo Bee
Microlite Super-Lite

I would only buy without trying if I had had a very very good recommendation.

For example, I can heartily recommend anything made by Mountain Buggy, as will pretty much everyone else who has one as they are solidly built and indestructible. I've heard great things about the Maclaren XLR. But I can't really speak for the others, I've just know they seem to fit your criteria.

FriggFRIGG · 17/05/2011 19:56

okay, going on flings list (its a good list)

MB i have heard v v good things, and have just bought one for myself(vv excited)

britax b mobile utter rubbish, flimsy thing, the older style britax vigours are far superior (ive had both)

maclaren i hate them, lots of people swear by them

bugaboo bee best single buggy i have ever had (ive had 20+) rearfacing, forward facing, extending handle,'cocoon' option for newborn, pushes like a dream!!

micralite superlite looks great,i'll tell you more when mine arrives tomorow!!Grin

in summary, all GREAT buggys (NOT Bmobile) but personallY,for your circ's, i highly recommend the bugaboo bee.Smile

Frigg, is your micralite there? How does it compare to the Bee?

FriggFRIGG · 18/05/2011 22:39

yes it arrived!! i LOVE IT!!
its on a par with the bee IMO..
better because of the big back wheels, shame no RF,but it is a fantastic lightweight option!

FlingonTheValiant · 18/05/2011 22:51

Oh fab :)

With your enormous buggy knowledge, is there anything other than the bee that you'd recommend for RF 7m+?

FriggFRIGG · 19/05/2011 08:06

BRITAX vigour 3
you can buy them 2nd hand, but its bigger, and a two part fold.
much,much,cheaper though Grin

suzie38 · 19/05/2011 08:46

It can be a one part fold but is extremely bulky...I've got 3 Vigours because of recommendations on here...Almost on par with Bugaboos to me...My 3 were around £50 each, well linen one i got for £37.
