I think I might need a bugaboo bee...

but I'm worried about it disintegrating. It looks just like the kind of thing I've been searching for for years, dimensions of a stroller, lightweight, suitable for bus travel, suitable for newborns and parent facing. The only other thing I wanted was big wheels, but according the internet it boasts wonderful suspension. Smile I can't drive so I go by bus a lot, but I also walk miles. We live in the country, but it's the fens so no hills Smile and I don't often attempt to walk through muddy fields, but some of the lanes are very bumpy. I've had several cheap little strollers, some of which have fallen apart, along with the buggy board, due to overuse. I don't want to buy this thing and find out too late that it's totally unsuitable or have it fall apart.

So what I would like to know from you pushchair ladies is:

Is it worth the money?

Will it be able to cope with country lanes that have grass growing down the middle?

Is it robust enough to withstand being used a lot or is it really designed for occasional use in shopping centres?

Thanks Smile

I have one and absolutely love it :) dd4 is 2.6 and fits in it well, we live in a rural area and like you I don't drive so it gets used a lot! I find it's ok over bumpy terrain but I usually lock the wheels first. I haven't had any problems with mine and bought it secondhand from here but it still looks really good and they hold their money fairly well so resale is still good.

I've got one and I love it but we are in the city. It is very robust, we use it constantly and it's not showing signs of busting up yet! We've had a 4yo in the seat and a 7yo on the buggy board in the past and it's been fine. I will say we went somewhere with cobbles recently and it wasn't much fun on the cobbles, couldn't use the buggy board much and my 2yo was just about all it could manage. Not sure how that compares to country lanes though!

Micralite fastfold, better in my opinion, one hand fold, big back wheels. Great buggy.

Grin I am not a 'pushchair lady'.

Q1: Yes - I love mine.
Q2: I don't know - I only use mine around town. I'd worry that it might not be ideal for country lanes.
Q3a: Yes - I use mine all the time (and used to use it for a 1hour 30mins walk every day).
Q3b: No.

That's official then, I need one. Smile Letsblowthis, I don't think cobbles are ever fun. The lanes near us are not nearly that bad. Smile Oxford, how would you describe yourself? I did type pushchair addicts first but decided it sounded rude :)

I have one and love it. However it's not the best off road as it's not what it is designed for.....in fact I have invested in a 3 wheeler for parks etc as it is so bumpy! So maybe rethink of you intend t use a lot off road?

nicolamumof3 · 13/05/2011 21:16

i definitely think its more suited to an urban environment, smooth paths etc tbh.

springbokscantjump · 18/05/2011 12:10

Oh I love mine but am actually on this forum trying to find an alternative for when we go out in the country! Live in London, absolutely fab for on the tube/buses/paths but it's a bugger in fields or on gravel.

tabbycat7 · 18/05/2011 18:32

I've decided to get a bugaboo frog off ebay and then get a bee if we have another baby (currently ttc #4 :)). Lots of people seem to like mountain buggies, are they any good?

Bees are very light. My friend left hers on the grass in the park while her DS had a run around, and a small gust of wind blew the thing into a lake!!

FlingonTheValiant · 18/05/2011 19:04

Love love love my mountain buggy! Brilliant to push. Would love a bee for in the city though Envy

oxfordcomma · 18/05/2011 19:12

Oh tabbycat7, I'm so glad you didn't buy a Bugaboo Bee! I kept imagining you battling along a country lane with one.

I use my bee on country lanes and fields fine out in the sticks, can't imagine it would handle big cobble stones but cobble stones are there to slow down wheels any way, I have a vigour too, buthave hardly used it since I got the bee.
