Phil & Teds Sport doubles seat help!

I've seen lots of reviews of the Phil and Teds Sport and we've just bought one second-hand. However, now I realise what some of the reviewers were saying about the second seat being too small for a bigger child.

My DD is 19 months but very tall for her age, and so when the new baby (due when DD is 2) is in the cocoon and DD1 uses the second seat "on top" it will be too small for her, as the bar at the top doesn't support the seat fully and it slips through even if it isn't reclined. We're trying to find a way to solve the problem and have a few ideas, but has anyone else found a solution?

I'm also worried that as we'll be getting into winter when DD2 arrives I won't be able to use a rain cover with the second seat on the front, as I can't see how it would attach without leaving no space for DD1.

I'm beginning to wonder whether we've made a mistake and should re-sell the P&T and get a Jane Powertwin instead.

Any advice gratefully received!

the explorer and vibe have overcome this problem by having the fabric and padding all the way to the top of the seat, aslo i think the seat itself may be bigger...

i had the same problem, sold my P&T, used a nipper double for 4 months, got fed up with the width and purchased another P&T and supported DD2 in the back seat. If I was doing it again I think I would struggle along with a sling for the baby until she could go in the back seat. alternatively the newer models can be used as a travel system at the same time as a double so you can put the baby on top and the toddler in the back seat?

Thanks, I had originally thought about using a sling with our Bugaboo for DD1 if she needs it, but then I remembered tat DD1 hated slings and loved sleeping so I finally decided to go with a double that would take a car seat for ease of transfer when out. Of course DD2 will probably love slings and hate sleeping!

I have found very few design flaws with the Bugaboo (apart from leaves/mud getting trapped in the small wheels) in 19 months of use, but the P&T seems to be full of them - and we've only had it a day!
