Any 3 wheelers that I can use with maxi-cosi car seat or a carrycot (but not Quinny Buzz)

I'm expecting DC3 and I need a 3 wheeler due to the terrain where we live. I currently have a Phil and Teds for DC2 but it is getting a bit knackered. I only really need a single pushchair as but ideally will need to use a buggy board for DC2. I need it to be compatible with the baby maxi-cosi seat and would preferably like a Carrycot for the early days. Does anyone have any good recommendations? I've owned a Quinny Buzz original style but found it pretty unstable tbh and the front wheel needs to be pneumatic I think. Would quite like a Pand T's Vibe but I don't think you can add a car seat onto this?

Yes iCandy seats do look fairly small on screen but I need to look properly at them.

The trouble with getting the adaptors for the MC car seat and the peanut carrycot for my current P&T's is that it doesn't solve the problem - the seat and hood parts are knackered so prob best if I start again anyway. However...maybe I could make do with this set-up and then get a new nipper 360 for when baby has outgrown it's carrycot???

God, it's not easy to find iCandy's to look at online is it! John Lewis don't seem to have much info and Kiddicare don't stock them. Any ideas apart from iCandy site?

And MB will last for years. Pushed my 6 year old in it the other day when she was poorly...

I had a Quinny Freestyle and couldn't even give it away let alone sell it. It was an utterly fantastic all terrain pushchair that was tested to it's limits. It had shock absorbers so was lovely to push and really comfortable for Ds even when we were walking across fields. It also had adjustable handle which meant it was very comfortable to push.

The babyjogger is a fantastic buggy. Their car seat adapter fits maxi cosi and it has a carry cot option. I bought one for DC3 and it works well with a buggy board and is really easy to push one handed. I didn't use either car seat adapter or carry cot though.

I have both MB swift and urban. I do fine the urban big, I have the new version that has 'flush' wheels as the older models have a sticky out bit which I would bash into everything with my older model one! I do prefer my swift as it is a much more managable size in shops etc but do so much walking wanted the urban. Fab with buggy board.

Both are fab offroad, on the beach etc, I had both dc in the swift in the snow and carried all my christmas pressies to my sisters a mile and a half away on christmas day!!

Well, been in John Lewis today and was not impressed with their pushchair selection. They didn't have an iCandy apple jogger and denied it existed! Nor a Quinny Freestyle, nor a nipper. They did show me a baby jogger (I don't know how many models there are) but I wasn't keen as the front wheels weren't pneumatic.

Looking round town, iCandy shopping baskets seem quite a good size but god knows where I will find a stockist for the jogger. Any ideas anyone?

carrielou I am liking the look of the Mountain buggy swift quite a lot. Which car seat is compatible with it? I really want to use my maxi-cosi one as the isofix thing in the car is so easy.

How bizarre - which JL was it? The Reading store have the Nipper and the iCandys. stockists listed here.

haribofan · 08/05/2011 20:13

They had several iCandy's but not the apple jogger (the one I'm interested in) and the lady didn't know it existed. She asked if it was one where you just change the front wheels over. I said I didn't think so and was pretty sure it is a separate model. Oh, I also menat Quinny Speedi in my last post as I think the freestyle is discontinued. Thanks for the stockist link, they're not that widely stocked are they.

I think you can buy it as a normal apple ie 4 wheels) and swap between 3 & 4 wheels, but I just bought the straight 3 wheeler.

iCandy are a bit funny on restricting who sells their products apparently - we were lucky and had a few stockists nearby.

you seem to think whenever anyone mentions a Phil & Teds that it means sticking with/adapting the one you've got. but if yr buying a new buggy anyway...

have a look at how P&T have improved the Sport with their new model, the explorer

haribofan · 08/05/2011 20:59

I don't think P&T's have been mentioned too many times so far... yes have considered another P&T's but seems a bit nuts when I don't really like the huge metal car seat adaptor thing anyway! Will be keeping my current P&T's anyway as the doubles kit is a handy thing to have. Thanks to everyone who has posted, lots to think about and trying not to get too blinkered by carrycot and car seat suitability at the moment- I will need this pushchair for 4 years not just the newborn stage afterall :)

The mountain buggy breeze is excellent if you overlook the carrycot and carseat lack of comparability. Available from the mountain buggy outlet complete with snuggle bag and bottle holder for £199 It's a bargain.
I got one and its excellent and as it takes 35kg I sat my 7y old in to see how long it would last. She can get the hood over her head, just. She is tall for age too.
It doesn't tip with bags on the handlebar, it can be used on public transport as it folds small and has a small footprint if your bus is roll on roll off. It's smaller than the Phil and Teds.
It has fixed front wheel which I think is fab. It's still easy to steer in urban settings, and is fantastic for rough or muddy terrain.
It's pre 2009 stock, made in NZ
