Stroller/Pushchair - good for naps?

Just come back from holiday away with our Micralite where we've discovered that it's not really suitable for DS. The semi-recline just isn't enough for napping and when fully upright it's too reclined for him, plus there is no leg rest so his legs just dangle uncomfortably. So on the hunt for a new pushchair/stroller that fits the following:

  • Reclines as flat as possible
  • Nice long adjustable leg-rest
  • Big hood
  • Upright seat in main position
  • Light and one-handed fold

Nice-to-have:

  • Adjustable handlebar
  • Suspension

While we were away we ended up in a department store while sheltering from the rain and spotted a Cybex Onyx which had a fabulous hood which virtually covered the seat when reclined and it was SPF50 too which will definitely be handy for summer holidays away. I've never heard of it before though so not sure how good it actually is... Also saw a Jane Energy too but again, not familiar with these either.

Any ideas?

DS is 18m and this will be a second pram (have Bee Plus) so not looking to spend mega-bucks if possible.

TIA

I've got the Chicco Lite Way as my second pushchair and I really like it. It doesn't have a big hood but the hood at all can be pulled all the way forwards to shade the sun when you're walking towards it. Does that make any sense? Hmm
It is really light but doesn't feel like it might tip with shopping on the handle. It lies completely flat and can be pretty much vertical as well. It folds very easily like a Maclaren and lots of other strollers. I'm surprised how much I love this pushchair actually, I'd only bought it because it was light and compact.
Also, it often comes with a footmuff/liner. I don't know why but sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. It doesn't say anything about which of them has one online. Mine did and it was in 'surf'.

Haven't used the Cybex Onyx, but have used the Cybex Callisto which is bloody fantastic and so well made! think the Callisto is "one up" from the onyx (think Maclaren Techno to Quest!) but if it's half as good as the callisto it'll be fantastic!

Hated the Chicco lite way! Sorry aswell!

Thanks for the recommendations aswell and MNSP :) I had considered the Chicco Lite Way but dismissed it as I don't like the colour way Blush - very shallow I know! I've got my eye on a couple of Callisto's on eBay but wasn't sure whether the xtra ££ over the Onyx was worth it - looks like it may well be so keeping my eye out on a bargain now - unless anyone else comes along with a recommendation??!

Baby Jogger City Mini?

Guildfordnanny · 01/05/2011 21:27

Ditto...Baby Jogger City Mini or possibly Micro given DS is not a baby, but the Mini is better.

Oh, on second thoughts aswell, that garnet colour is very pretty! I've only ever seen it in the white/blue colourway before which I was worried would get dirty v. quickly!

I do keep eyeing up the bjcm but the seat seems awfully reclined when at the highest setting which has really put me off :( doesn't help that DS hates getting in/out of pushchairs so I can never test them out properly.

Glad to see another vote for the cybex! I'm liking this more and more - now just need to find one to play with :)

the garnet is lovely in RL!

aswellasyou · 02/05/2011 11:18

The garnet is really nice in real life. I ended up getting it in bright blue/light blue which isn't that great but it was £50 new so I got over it! I was a bit Sad/Hmm when you said you didn't like the colour assuming you meant the garnet. The Cybex does look really nice though.

The new 2011 BJCM has a sit up strap which makes it very upright. You put the seat upright and then add the strap on. This is the double but can see clearly the difference it makes. www.bestbuggy.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/tn_P1180840.jpg The girl has it on, the baby doesn't.

Tweetinat · 03/05/2011 20:05

Well, for £50 as well as it would have been rude not to!! I'm hopefully heading off to Toysrus tomorrow to see it in real life and then off to M&P showroom to compare with the others :)

Thanks for that link Guilford - that strap makes SUCH a difference! I am going to have a nosy on the BJ website to find out more info :)
