Help needed on buying a lightweight stroller for 11m DD

Hi all,
I have an 11 month old DD and up until now we've been using the Babystyle Oyster which has been great. However we have to go to London for a wedding and want to go camping in half term so think we might need something that is a bit smaller and more compact to fit in the car. I love the fact that my babystyle oyster can be parent facing and have yet to turn DD around (is that ridiculous?!). Is there such a thing as a poarent facing stroiller I wonder?
hat strollers would people recommend? I have heard that the silver cross pop are good.
Any help gratefully received.
Rachael

The Quinny Zapp Xtra comes to mind - it's great but the flaws are two adaptors that are easy to lose and costly to replace so if you never remove them ie to put a car seat on then it's not an issue and secondly the fold xan be awkward. But it's a neat parent facing package.

what about quinny zapp xtra parent facing

triskaidekaphile · 29/04/2011 21:26

I'd say there's no such thing as parent facing stroller. Bugaboo bee probably comes closest but costs a fortune so not ideal as a 2nd buggy. I'd get an umbrella fold- a MacClaren Quest or cheaper imitation- or a baby jogger city mini/micro.

quinny zapp xtra parent facing

i had a zapp tbh is bit rickety but a good travel buggy, ticks your boxes

rachael2401 · 29/04/2011 21:45

Thanks all. I've just looked at the zapp extra - does anyone know if it folds down one handed? Would it be suitable for a trip to the big smoke for a country mouse like me or a camping trip? Am thinking maybe we would be better with an umbrella fold one (can you not get these that are parent facing?) but really want to keep DD facing me as want to keep the interaction.

if you set on parent facing thats it,really.
camping with zapp.hell no they are rickety really only good for pavements etc
but is v light

only true 1 hand fold i ever had was micralite

tbh if you only after travel buggy when not forgo the parent face for a cheap stroller

scottishmummy · 29/04/2011 22:13

no zapp extra its not a 1 hand fold, bit faffy

suzie38 · 29/04/2011 22:14

Graco Fusio seems popular with everyone that has got one.

suzie38 · 29/04/2011 22:15

Pop is pants...I got one as part of a swap, used it once as it was awful to push.

Baby Jogger City Mini, folds really really easily and is good for all you've said. Only thing is that it isn't rear facing.

Zapp Xtra, you've got to remove the seat unit to fold it.

saoirse86 · 30/04/2011 11:15

I would not go for the zapp xtra. It's not one hand fold, you have to remove the seat to fold it and the seat doesn't fold at all so you'll have a tiny neatly folded frame with a big seat completely separate. I personally don't understand why they designed the xtra like that at all. Surely the whole point of the zapp is that it folds small. [chmm]

Anyway...

I agree the micralite might be good for you. Not parent facing with the normal seat, but light, one hand fold and nice big tyres, and you can often get them relatively cheap on ebay. [csmile]

Have a look!

scottishmummy · 30/04/2011 20:45

yes,agree.xtra is a faff
quick fold and good on bumpy terrain camping - def try micralite fastfold/superlite.the big air tyres make it easy push and good quality buggy.easy to get up/down stairs. i loved micralite

I've just bought a jane solo. It folds rear and forward facing with the seat unit attached. I bought it as it only weighs 8 kgs - think the oyster weighs nearer 12? I love it, I did only pay £245 for it, I found a new one on ebay from a shop (beegees). It was the lightest rear facer I could find in my budget.
