DC2 is due in the summer, and we had decided on a double 360, which PIL kindly offerded to buy for us. Then I had a wobble as thinking I may need to use public transport more than at present. I saw a 2nd hand P&T for sale mega cheap and bought it. It was originally bought in 2004 and has E3 on one of the cover bits - what does that mean for buying replacement parts? Does it equate to the sport or explorer or ?? (have no idea whether it is V1 or V2 - how do you tell?

The covers are a bit manky and I may need to replace the hood so need to know what I am looking for on ebay etc. Also, has anyone put P & T covers in the washing maching? it says to sponge or hand clean but I think these need a proper wash!

I have bought a 2nd hand cocoon from a MNetter, what else can I get to make it a bit more comfortable/attractive/less worn, without breaking the bank?

TIA.

it is the original E3 model that was discontinued as the sport v1 was introduced. fab buggy (i had 1) and you should be able to get parts from groovystyle on line. As far as i know there was only the 1 version of the E3 and it came in charcoal or red.

as for comfort I put a buggysnuggle in mine (just the bottom half in the summer).

some bits of the sport fit on the E3 (i had a sport 2nd seat on mine), oxford pram centre are very knowledgeable and helpful too

Thanks Hevster - I knew someone would know! It was charcoal - it is now a weird sun-bleached, mildew spotted grey-khaki!

Thanks for the tip re Oxford Pram Centre - have family we are due to visit over easter in the Thames Valley so it's a possibility to make use of their expertise.

no worries, you can always ring them up (I do!)

I had an E3 for two years (bought second hand). Groovystyle were very good for spare parts, replaced all wheels and the J-bar, no trouble at all. P&T frame has a sticker (at least my two did) stating the date of fabrication which should tell you whether it is V1 of V2... Not sure how different they are though.

When the E3 finally died (frame) I sold all remaining bits on ebay cheaply including seat fabrics and double seat frame... I have now the new sport 2010 model and none of the old E3 parts fit this buggy.

Good to know, thanks America - will have a scout for a sticker.

Any experience of washing the covers?

i have a P&T Sport which i think has the same fabric at the e3. a couple of weeks ago DD had a rather explosive vomit all over it (god, it was everywhere). Sponging wouldnt have gotten it all out of the fabric. I took it into the garden with the hose, a bottle of washing up liquid and a scrubbing brush. Took about an hour to scrub it down from top to toe. I dried it as best i could with some towels and then left it in the sun for a couple of hours. I brought it in over night and propped it next to a radiator. It was perfect the next morning and mercifully vomit free.

If you have mould on yours maybe you could dispense with the washing up liquid and try something a bit harder like bio washing liquid?

I have an E3(2006) in apple green, I washed all the covers(except the hood and cocoon) in the washing machine (use a screwdriver to undo straps) and they came out nice and clean. I did look at the Pand T site for replacements which they do sell but it washed so well that kept the old ones. You can also use a pressure washer to clean pushchairs.

parts here

Thank you!

I quite like the idea of taking it down to our local garage and using the jet wash with a bit of bio liquid and a brush (have no hose at home!)

Good to hear that someone has used the machine though - I could just use a handwash or cold/gentle cycle and hope for the best!

I don't want to end up buying new covers a sit was such a bargain - although may have to get a new hood as it's hopeless, and like the look of the doubles kit hood too.

Put most of the fabrics in the wash today (the main seat won't fit, but will prob take to the launderette) and they have all come out really well and smell of washing powder instead of mildew! (I used a 25 deg handwash cycle).

I washed my main seat in the bath - left it to soak in bio washing powder then scrubbed and rinsed off in shower.

Dettol mould and mildew remover is fab on P&T covers too :)

Hi, has the cocoon arrived yet? Smile

FessaEst · 19/04/2011 18:33

I have a secondhand E3 in bright orange. Need to try washing it in washing machine as it is a bit grubby. I've found practicalpushchairs.co.uk to be brilliant for spare parts.

sazm · 19/04/2011 19:02

yep the parts all fit in the washine machine except from the main seat unit.
i too put mine in the bath and scrubbed it with a little nail brush. then hung it on the line for a while! looked good as new afterwards :)
