OK, need a MacLaren with a buggy board or similar... what do I buy, please, oh wise buggy people?

DD1 (13 months) and DD2 (3.5yrs) go to the same nursery. Have been using our Pliko pramette which handily has a built-in toddler step. However, after 3.5 years of daily abuse love it's on its last legs. Have visions of getting half way home and a wheel falling off...

Thinking a MacLaren (or similar) plus buggy board is best option moving forward?

Have either a long walk (25 minutes) or bus ride there and back - need it to be able to handle both, ideally, and for my DD2 to be able to nap in it (so a recline is a must).

And how difficult are buggy-boards to get out of the way for boarding buses etc.? Never used one...

Have had several Mamas and Papas cheapo buggies. They all fell apart rather quickly. Figure I must bite the bullet and buy the real thing!

But what would be your recommendations, please?

Thanks lovely ladies!

I never liked my Maclaren and sold it on pretty quick but I did a fair bit of walking with it in the few months I had it and it seemed to last.

I'd say if you are going for a Maclaren the XT would be best but I preferred the M&P Pulse which is still a bit pricey but cheaper.

The Lascal buggy boards are meant to be good and are compatible with most AFAIK.

Oh meant to say over any other pushchair I would recommend the Baby Jogger City Mini, we did a lot of walking and buses with it, folds flat rather than umbrella but so easy to do (just pull a strap) it makes up for it IMO.

Also has better wheels for walking but not sure about buggy board.

I would buy another pliko tbh, they fold just as easily as a mac and you will never get a buggy board to be as handy as the pliko ride on step. Also I prefer the seat on the pliko its roomier.

Thanks guys... upyourdiva, why didn't you get on with the Maclaren, out of interest?

Like the look very much of the babyjogger city mini... the website seems to say they have a 'glider board' but can't find one online anywhere...

sick of the holidays - I know the Pliko has been brilliant and the toddler step is inspired ? is it the only buggy with a toddler step built in? It's such a good idea I can't believe they're the only ones doing it...

However, not sure we can stretch to another 400 odd quid for a second pliko! Plus, I think that DD2 at 3.5yrs now is a bit heavy for the toddler step TBH ? it seems to be dying under the weight!

Do the Lascal buggy boards fold up out of the way at all when you're not suing them? Thinking about boarding a bus in a hurry with a dangly step on the back...

Sorry to be clueless... Grin and thanks for all your help so far...

Designer - I just thought the XT seemed a bit rattly and DS never seemed comfy in it as he used to stick his feet on the wheels which was a PITA and I don't like 2 handles as I'm a fussy bugger :o
