looking for a double that i can take on the bus. do i have to get phil and teds?

i am in love with my bugaboo be plus... so light and easy, but even then, sometimes i struggle if the gap is too big or the buggy is loaded with stuff...

those of you with a toddler and baby... how do you cope with public transport??

the double wides look easier to push (baby jogger/nipper 360), but the phil and teds is narrower.... such a debate...

my friend took one on a bus on Saturday had to go through the middle door(disabled) door. Had to be no other pushchairs. Which is the same with most pushchair's only really room for one. If you are going to do this a lot a baby jogger city mini double may be a good option as you can fold easily

On London buses, double-width pushchairs are allowed to enter via the rear door (gesture at the driver), as long as no other pushchairs are on board.

You don't want a wide pushchair for any more than occasional use - have Maclaren XT double and it's very hard work to get up/down kerbs with toddlers in. Friends + family swear by Phil+Ted for toddler+baby.

I've had a First Wheels City Twin, a Urban Detour double, a BJCMD and a P&T E3 on our local buses. TBH the P&T was the pain in the bum one as it is soooo long and didn't fit on easily, it needed to be parked at an angle and took up more room than my FWCT did....

Having said that some of my local buses have two bays (one for a wheelchair and one with fold up seats) that can accept 2/3 pushchairs on each, some have a huge bay that will take 4 of the small fold up buggies or a double and 2 small buggies and some will take a double and one buggy/pushchair.

Sometimes you might need to ask people to move their pram so you can get your pram in and then they can put theirs in afterwars due to the varying space different prams take up (does that make sense? I hope so).

The best thing to do is lurk around your local bus station and see which doubles get off which buses (especially of you only go on one route) so you know which doubles it.

Or if you seem someone with a double you really want, stop and ask them if they ever get on the no. XX bus with it.
