Silver Cross Wayfarer with wedge for seat - anyone got one/had one/got pictures??

OK, so I have heard talk of this buggy.
I'm interested in the wedge for the seat - apparently there's a 'bucket seat' and a wedge to put in it to allow a newborn to lie flatter.

So...I'm getting a Quinny Zapp Xtra, and thought a wedge would be ideal on that too; my Mum and I are quite handy with that kind of thing and reckon we could invent one.

What kind of thing is it, though? Can anyone describe it or draw a simple diagram??

Thanks!

My mum had the Wayfarer for me when I was born (1986) and said the wedge thing was awful because it would shift around in the seat and never felt safe.

Going by one that I have seen since and what she describes it was a wedge of foam with a removable cover which was moulded to fit the seat so thick in the middle to get to the deepest part (where there bum would go) and thinning out towards the foot and head of the seat so you ended up with a flat(ish) 'matress'.

That makes sense to me and hope it makes some sort fo sense to you ;o

I will say though that the Zapp seat is quite shallow so that sort of padding would leave baby very close to the edge which would be neither enclosed or safe and from what I hear the XTRA is the same and generally a bit crappy because in reverse it has no sit up feature so would'n really be able to use rear facing after say 9 months as it would be too reclined and it fodls in 2 parts which defeats the purpose of a small pushchair.

I realise this is not what you asked but just a heads up :)

I've had 2 Wayfarers and the second one came with a wedge...It's basically a piece shaped like a Tobelerone.

Thanks!
I haven't got my Zapp yet but I'm inheriting it - so will make the best of it whatever happens! I was just wondering about the seat bit really, how bad it is, but once seen I will consider the wedge issue.

Now I want to get myself a toblerone...Grin

Are you expecting or has your LO found it's way into this jolly ol' world already?

There is a lay flat car seat you can use with it... Besafe Izi Sleep daylight robbery a bargain at £229 :o

You'd be cheaper buying another pushchair and using this one when LO gets older LOL.

Hi I also bought a weyfairer in 1987 but mine was the ballero (pushchair/carrycot). Excellent pram survived all my 3 children. I recently got it back out again to use for my grandchild. Unfortunately I left the framework on drive after cleaning, and someone stole it for scrap. Now left with seat cover and carrycot. Does anyone know where I can acquire a framework to enable me to use again. Tried Silvercross but they do not stock spare parts for this pushchair.

There are things available - the smartmuff has an integral wedge, Stokke make a wedge for the xplory that you can sometimes pick up on ebay. Ditto silver cross surf ones.

Silver Cross are re-releashing a new version of the Wayfarer next year. I'm really interested to see what it will be like!

The Silver Cross Surf has a modern day version of the wedge system in it to make it suitable from birth, but remember the old Wayfarer, such a great product and they lasted forever!!
