right so i need a decision between icandy apple and bugaboo cameleon

my wish list is:

carrycot
dog walking sutible
town walking sutible
goes through all weathers (live in bad weather area)
maxi cosi compatible
built to last
2 way facing

*note not considering prices on these as been saving and these are in budget + not looking at brands as this isnt really a pushchair snob area and im niot really fussed what people think of my choice its more about meetin my needs!!!

so which woiuld you ngo for and why!

I love Bugaboo (never tried icandy) and is great for all your needs BUT when you say bad weather areas, would you be needing all terrains? The small front wheels are great for town but less so for a country walk for example.

nameinuse · 08/03/2011 11:37

well i live in town but snow gets bad during the winter and also i am a bit worried with the icandy not having anything in the wheels to stop punctures - dont know how common these are though?

i could get one for 695 (inc adaptors) is that a good price? been searching but cant find anything cheaper!

TBH I don't think either of them would cope all that well with snow etc, but if I had to pick it would be the ICANDY.

You can buy 'Tyre slime' which is a gooey substance that you put into tyres to make them more robust.

I would also say that there is another oushchair that springs to mind which would be better for terrain walks. It would be the Maxi Cosi Mura it is a bit bigger but alot sturdier and does everything youw want with a smaller price tag!

Should also add that you may want to get something smaller too for in car etc as all of these pushchairs will be a pain if you drive, constnt folding and unfolding alongside placing seat on and off can get annoying.

Debs75 · 08/03/2011 12:36

An ICandy, Bugaboos look awful. Can you turn the apple into a double if you needed to? If you can then that is another bonus

BooBooGlass · 08/03/2011 12:38

I'd say you need a Mountain Buggy, especially with the dog walks. ut it doesn't face both ways. You'll really struggle with either of your choices in the snow or in fields. MB will make light work of both

upyourdiva · 08/03/2011 12:41

Maxi Cosi Mura

Precious Little One, £432.80 for 4 wheel version, footmuff, cabrio-fix car seat, raincover and carrycot.

I will say though this is a fantastic walking pushchair and okay for around town here but it is pretty big! But again it will cope with any terrain you throw at it.

I would advise buying a smaller pushchair as well, as I said above.

What about the Quinny Buzz or the Mothercare My3 (3 wheeler) or My4 (4 wheeler)?
They both have larger more sturdy wheels.
The Quinny's carrycot can be used as a moses basket substitute but the My3/4 can't apparently.
Both are maxi-cosi suitable.

nameinuse · 08/03/2011 13:46

i was actuloly just in mothercare looking quite like the my 4 or the spin any experience with these ?

thanks for the mura link theres also a new maxi cosi one at boots but i cant see it in the flesh so puts me off a bit!

OP posts:
upyourdiva · 08/03/2011 13:53

Aah okay I see what you mean, do you have a local pram centre or something near you?

Motherccare is definately not the best place to buy from if you have the option. A lot of people have very bad experiences with them with broken pushchairs and bad customer service which in the end costs you yet more money so if you can I would stay away.

nameinuse · 08/03/2011 14:04

no local pram centre unfortunatly - only a small local shop with icandy range and big mamas and papas ones which i definatly dont want

mothercares the only big shop locally and i was quite attracted by the 2 yr warrenty but im looking at kiddiecare and boots.com (were i got the maxi cosi from) atm the buzz has quite a good package on kiddiecare - does anyone know how the buzz and my4 are actully diffrent exept for the carrycot? they look v similar but im sure ive heard negatives about the buzz before

anyway max budget is around 600 (like to spend less if poss but could push it a bit though) so any ideas are welcome - this is one thing i'd like new so willing to spend a bit!

sorry for the appaling spelling

The Buzz IMO is unstable and not particularly comfortable looking. Would also be rubbish for snow or muddy tracks etc.

The MY3 looks like it would be okay as it has 3 decent wheels, again the my might be a bit awkward because of the little wheels.

I completely forgot about the Silver Cross Linear. It is a gorgeous pushchair and has lovely big wheels for pushing and although it is quite big it's not rediculous for around shops or on buses.

upyourdiva · 08/03/2011 14:36

Oops that one is'nt suitable for Maxi Cosi.

The other option although it may seem mad now would be to get a pushchair you like and get a stroller that is compatible with the caabrio fix then you are not so limited if that makes sense.

For example I would have the Linear for walking day to day and the Streety chassis for in the car and out and about as the car seat clips onto these wheels.

suzie38 · 08/03/2011 15:42

You can buy snow wheels for Bugaboos to make them all terrain...They worked fantastic when we had that snow back in December...I think they look nicer than the proper wheels...Only thing is they don't swivel.

nameinuse · 08/03/2011 19:47

well ive been looking at ebay and found a seller doing bugaboo packages so maby thats an option not sure i want second hand though cause i cant view beforehand and have had stuff turning up minging!

the silvercross looks nice but ive seen someone at ds's nursery and they look a bit bulky (crazy cus they are prob the same as others im looking at! but just dont appeal to me)

think id go to the my4 rather than the 3 as it might be more stable?

ohhh this is hard...........

a teutonia might fit the bill? i have the spirit s3 and the team cosmo(double) but they have other models that do what you want. they come with a 3 year guarantee, they both have a carrycot, are great in the snow, go through our local park, the single takes the maxi cosi, face both directions and are german so built to last!

the only thing is that they normally take about 8 weeks as are built to order, although when we were ordering our double they had some that were ready to ship.

:)

nameinuse · 09/03/2011 18:16

ok i think its now between the mothercare black spin - out of stock till april though so think thats out

the silvercross surf but oh don't like it lol

the my 4

or a bugaboo ive found a new one for 540 on ebay but it seems too cheap to me? anyone care to have a look? :)

Mountain buggy with carrycot def

mountainbuggy.com/en/buggies/single

saoirse86 · 09/03/2011 20:40

If you really want an all weather buggy what about the Seed Pli?

£149 + £5 P&P on ebay (RRP £799!!!)

mothercare car seat adapters for £35 suitable for maxi cosi car seat, £40 for rain cover, £35 for shopping basket, £65 for coseytoes. Mothercare are saying 4-8 weeks for delivery though. They do a price match thing where they'll match a cheaper price and also give you a £10 gift voucher if the cheaper price is more than £20.

Total would be £329.

You can buy swivel wheels for about £50 and skis, yes SKIS, for another £42.50 which attach to the fixed wheels!! Grin

MissVerinder · 10/03/2011 15:48

I had a '08 My3 and it's fantastic.

nameinuse · 10/03/2011 15:55

ever had any punctures?

OP posts:
PuraVida · 10/03/2011 17:45

I use my bugaboo over all sorts of rough terrain and it as fine in the snow. You just swing the handle over so the big wheels are at the front and away you go
