Baby Jogger City Select vs Britax B-Dual for twins

Any views?

I thought I was set on the BJCS tandem, but I had a look at the B dual today and realised you can get 2 carseats on it - an important criteria for me.

My reservation about the BJCS is that all the weight of the second seat is over the front wheels and I wonder if it will get hard to push and lift up kerbs etc as the twins get older - they're not born yet btw Grin

The B Dual felt better balanced to push, but perhaps not as comfortable for the babies, limited view etc.

Any opinions greatly received Smile

Hi well my sil has the bjcs and i have the b dual Grin ready for #2 to arrive, in both cases we have a toddler and a baby so not sure if it will be the same for you wit it being twins.

How do you it 2 careats on the bdual? i was told only the top seat ( main one) would fit a carseat.
The bjcs however does take 2 with the adaptors as they are 2 completely seperate brackets if that makes sense lol

The bj is quite hard to ge tup kerbs but this is with a 2yo in the front in my experience altough really nice to push.
The seats on the bj are not ideal forewborns as they have like a ridge on them when they are laid bk where the feet go this prob wont make much sense if you havent seen it in the flesh Grin
My nephew is 4 months and now looks comfy in the seat but you can always get the carrycots.

Im not sure if i would choose the bdual for twins if im honest, ive chose it as its the ony one of its kind where the 2nd seat is suiatble from birth.

Sorry this prob doesnt help Grin

That does help, thanks, and yes, I've seen them both in the flesh Grin

There is an adaptor that fits on the lower part of the B Dual to take the second carseat. I saw it in the Britax catalogue today.

I probably would get the carrycots if I end up with the BJCS.

Hmmm. Still not sure.

FriggFRIGG does your B Duel have rock hard tyres??? I'm finding my Vista ones are too hard with no give at all...Vista has same frame as B Dual but a different handle and fold mechanism...Plus the suspension is pretty none existent.

the tyres are hard...but the suspension makes up for it Grin

I think the Easywalker duo will take two car seats.

And pushes like a dream. but is a big beggar.

I had a Mountain Buggy with my twins, and I would highly recommend it. Or any buggy with 'proper' tyres. They are wonderful to push. It got nicked. Now have a Maclaren double and it's blimming awful.

Unfortunately I need a tandem to get round the side of my house - a side by side just won't fit, hence my very limited choice Smile

I would say BJCS, the bdual is actually quite wide. I love our BJCS and dont find it heavy up kerbs even with heavier child at front. I couldn't see over hood on Britax and the arrangements weren't as flexible.

It's good to hear that you don't find the BJCS too heavy to lift up kerbs - that's my main concern.

I see. I couldn't get a side by side through my (terrace house) front door. But decided to go for that one anyways, and glad I did.

i have twins and have had the BJCS, i sold it as it was a pain on cambers, it wasnt out when they were babies, i had the icandy pear as a travel system and a mountain buggy for home. i still have the mountain buggy and use it daily, the pear i sold at 12months. it was worth having as its so much easier being able to click car seats on and off. if i was having twins again i would probably get a cheap, jane powertwin, icandy pear or BJCS off e-bay to use as a travel system for the car and sell when they are out of the car seats and have a side by side. actually out of the three the powertwin is better for toddlers so if you have to have a tandem that you will keep when they are older, its worth considering but you will need jane car seats not maxi-cosi. the bjcs is alot, even secondhand and it is hard to steer on cambers even when empty so if you live anywhere where there are alot of dropped kerbs you will have to walk across i would consider somthing else. you can get pears cheap on e-bay and powertwins (the pro version with NON SPOKE wheels) can go for £100ish. i know alot of mums with twins who had the powertwin as a travel system to 3 and loved it. i had one and sold it as i had a BJCS in pre-order i did regret selling it as it was much easier to push. oh and the icandy pear did fit in my car (ford glalaxy) whole but to fold it you have to take the seats and pip converter off. the powertwin and bjcs are one bit fold with seats on, i am not sure about carrycots. also jane do a twintwo that takes two carrycots and car seats.

Why don't you look at the Mountain Buggy Duet. It's a side by side smaller than a City Select width wise so smaller than a tandem, has good sized seats (the same size as the Duo and bigger than the City Mini) takes carrycots and two car seats and arrives in the UK in a month or so if retailers are to be believed. It really is good. The B Dual seems great too with two car seats in. But the lower soft cot is tricky to get in and I dont like the ledge seat at the bottom. I hear its easy for children to slide down and be hanging by the harness. I like the way it folds with both seats on though and is a neat package.
