Any four wheelers OK off-road?

Not so keen on three wheel pushchairs, they feel unstable to me going up kerbs.

I walk a lot, primarily on pavements, but also on grass and the beach. Any tips for a four wheeler than can cope off-road?

quinny freestyle XL 4

here

a decent 3 wheeler shouldn't feel unstable though going up a kerb! What have you used?

I have a Hauck Traxx 4-wheeler, because our 3-wheeler kept blowing over in the wind!

It is fantastic off road, but not so great for pavements because of the suspension, I reckon. Worth a look though.

It is like this but without all the bits and bobs - we just got the stroller bit.

You can ignore anything with 3 wheels that hints at 'city' or 'jogger' as these are narrower and less stable.

Go for something with proper air tyres.

not true youcan't - I have a baby JOGGER CITY classic and have also had the elite- they are SOLID no way would it blow over and would easily fit a 4 or even 5 year old in - if you really wanted to! And it has been on a pier in high winds not budged.

The baby joggers are mega roomy - theya re solid as they are quite heavy - not to push, a doddle to push but a weighty pushahir to lift!

I'm just amazed you have had a baby jogger blow over! They are a heavy poushchair, even my black lab tied to it really struggles to pull it over!

More than once! There were tears, there was even blood once, the buggy was chucked and the wheels kept for a bogey! Grin

what an actual Baby Jogger Elite? Shock this? sorry am really in shock as reckon the base of back wheels are wider than a traxx, it is certainly bigger all round than traxx - my friend could not even get her elite thorugh her front door and I have been known to get stuck in a shop door HmmGrin

Christ, no! It was some other make that I can't recall but it was "Whatsitsname Jogger"...was red and black right enough!

The one you linked to does look very sturdy, and maybe more suited to the OP requirements.

I just found that 3-wheelers, with a raincover on, are less stable in strong winds.

Thanks for the suggestions. Will check them out.

My bias against three wheelers is based on the Baby Jogger pushchair we have (it's one of the jogging ones, I think they're called Performance now), and having tried three wheelers in Mothercare up and down the plinth they're displayed on. Coming down onto the front wheel just doesn't feel as secure to me, particularly if the wheel is on swivel. Perhaps you're only supposed to come down kerbs onto the back wheels?

ah the performance ones are quite different yes! I don't know - I have never had problems with my baby joggers. Though a fixed wheel 3 wheeler would feel better for you? The Nipper fixed wheel if you can get one second hand (they don't make them now) is great for ramming on anything - or fixed wheel mountain buggy? You can also get a rollerbug - 4 wheel mountain buggy but they don't come up very often

We used our Bugaboo - with the off-road/snow wheels this weekend off road. It was really muddy - the track was rough and uneven - with some steep slopes - and a bit of rough grass and some woodland (lumpy floor - lots of sticks)... It was really good.
The fabrics got a little muddy - but it all wiped off easily with a damp cloth when we got home.
I was impressed. Grin (used in pushchair mode - and with toddler onboard).
