Wuoldyou get a Bee or Bee + for walking 2 year old? Or just BJCM?

beckstar24 · 23/02/2011 11:40

and if so which one? Want an easy to push one handed (so techno out) pushchair with decent sized seat and storage pushchair that's light and folds up smallish

I know most of the time he's going to walk but there are times for my sanity I'll need him in and when we're on hol can use in the evenings for him to sleep in/carry 3 kids worth of stuff around.

Given this would it be silly to get a Bee - would the Plus really be that much better - or should I get the BJCM I can get for £140 in Boots?

Some men dont have a clue how much things are, i tend to buy everything for the house but i always get a good deal.
i bought a kenwood chef half price on amazon over xmas as my kenwood prospero (cheap version of the chef) had a fault and was being fixed. the new chef was £250ish with free delivery and will hopefully last a lifetime, i use it almost daily so it was a good buy IMO. DH didnt have a clue how much it cost as i bought it from the money i had from a massive clearout i had selling bits on e-bay before xmas. anyway a couple of weeks ago he went into currys with the older two children to pick something up and the kids ran over to the kenwood chefs and said 'mummy has one of those' when he looked at the price (£500ish) i think he almost fainted Grin. when he got home i had to show him the receipt from amazon, but he was still shocked at the price i paid. i do use it alot though, its great for making bread and i have the mincer as well and make my own mince and skinless sausages. the kids and i also have a massive laugh making pasta with it.

Yes, my paypal account from ebaying is also a life saver. His job changed over last year so he asked me if I would mind not returning to work, so he could be more available.

The bee is my last major indulgence, from my funds but when things breakdown it has never occurred to him how my part time wage covers new appliances etc .... he has yet to learn the art of price comparison and haggling Grin

dollydimple9 · 25/02/2011 13:16

Oh my dp has just given up on me,in fact he is like a women where prams are concerned now he knows them all ,all the lads at work go to him for advice when they are going pram buying lol ,i was telling him about the bugaboo donkey last night so he said "what do you suggest we do for that one, have ivf so we can have twins?" lol .Don't think we could afford that and the donkey Hmm .Anyway i'm not having any more,5 is enough for me Wink

suzie38 · 25/02/2011 16:27

My DH has also resigned himself to my pushchair addiction!!! Didn't bat an eyelid when i said i wanted to buy a brand new Uppababy Vista...Though he knows the price of the Donkey and i think i'd be really pushing it, if i bought one of those...Thought they were being released in Spring??? Late summer is no good as DD will be a few months past 2 then so really couldn't justify enough use though guess it would have high resell value so wouldn't lose too much money...Plus at 21 months DD has just moved into 9-12 month clothes so can get away with longer buggy use if she wanted to ride without looking silly.

nicolamumof3 · 25/02/2011 17:08

i wouldn't get bee plus for a 95cm toddler let alone a bee.

I have pics of my ds3 in bee plus i just ordered for my dc4 which is due in July he wanted to try it, he's 96cm and looked big in it.

As you know i adore superlite and cannot wait to use it again. Felt ds3 was again too big in it with winter coat on. Plan to use for dc4 also with carry cot.

Have pics of my 96cm 3.5yo in both if you'd like to say!

Honeydragon · 25/02/2011 17:23

Superlite are nice but I hated it on the bus, debated getting a bargain one on Debenhams (£79!!!), had to remind myself that despite being a dream to push it hates our buses Grin - but £79 doubt I'll see an offer like that again.

dollydimple9 · 25/02/2011 20:13

Nic congratulations on dc4 (i used to pop on pushchair chat now and again but u prob don't remember me).If i remember rightly you had'nt had a bugaboo and i'm sure you will love your bee +,when dd5 was born i had the Denim & hot pink canvas cam and loved itbut had to try the bee,it arrived and i hated it,thought it looked like a dolls pram, but have to say once i used it i loved it and never looked back,it has been one of my fav's hence upgrading to the bee+,i'm just sad that dd is growing out of it.

nicolamumof3 · 25/02/2011 21:06

thanks dollydimple! yep first bug for me, i've always resisted in the past Grin

honeydragon found my superlite good on the bus..didn't even know debenhams did prams/!

Honeydragon · 25/02/2011 21:33

Nicola, it's only -ironically- on the bus I use the most, you literally cannot fold and store anything longish in the luggage hold with impaling someone. And the way the seats are arranged meant if dd was asleep I couldn't hold on to the pushchair to stop it tipping.

Mind you even the wheelchair space is a nightmare for those that use it, it is very hard for an adult not to block the aisle and get battered by handbags.Hmm

It was on Debenhams xtra they are supplied a lot by Bambino Direct I think.

nicolamumof3 · 25/02/2011 21:51

i had to use buggyweights on my superlite i must admit.

beckstar24 · 26/02/2011 09:35

Hello Nicola Grin - I was waiting you for to come and champion the superlite - I've had another attack of the vapours and going to see if I can just get the wonky wheels on my ryder fixed for now - more cos if I get a BJCM DH will make me get rid of teh urban detour - but it's just such a packhorse for days out I coudln't bear it gone Sad

I would love to see pics of your DS in the Bee + though as that's another urge I can suppress then

Agreed about the buggyweights too

www.picturetrail.com/sfx/album/view/23695655 pics taken 2weeks ago. Luka measured 96cm yday.

plenty of room in volo!

dollydimple9 · 26/02/2011 19:13

Oh Luka looks comfy and roomy in the volvo, just measured dd and she is 93cms so might get the volvo, would you recommend nic for a holiday buggy? ,I have the cath kidson quest which i love but dd's knee's seem bent in it now

nicolamumof3 · 26/02/2011 20:10

How is dd dolly? I took another volo to Greeceast year for ds2 who was 4.5 at time was fab. Good sized hood but obv no revline or legrest for little ones

dollydimple9 · 27/02/2011 23:01

She is 2.4 but will be 2.9 when we go on holiday but she is a big girl,i would prefare something with recline really, although unlike my others she never sleeps lol but in the heat she might Hmm ,i have the juicy couture maclaren which i love and have been looking at the xt but it seems a similar size,i am considering the xlr which i had for older dd and loved because it has a wider seat but again it's similar to the juicy, got the cath kidston quest but she looks tall in it now.I've never been stuck what to buy i normally have a list Grin .

beckstar24 · 28/02/2011 07:40

i struggled to push anything more than a quest one handed tbh beckstar. i sold my xt last summer for the micralite as it was really pulling my shoulders.

beckstar24 · 28/02/2011 08:55

Thank you

You know - I think the more you think about pushchairs, the more you can put yourself off. For the first time ever (and one time only) I could buy whatever I want from new and all I've managed to do is put myself off things - current worry is that the BJCM is too long generally, awkward for the bus and can't hang much on it (problem when have my bag, 2 x nursery bags and shopping).

Someone make me get a grip please Confused

Nic - Quest is out as our last one was on our path with DS2 in and Dh turned around to shut the door, brake came off and DS fell onto our wall mouth first and we ended up in A and E for 2 hours - we'd been back home from holiday for 10 mins as Dh was going to get milk for a Brew - so robust brakes def a must. You don't have any pics of a Big LO in the Micralite do you?

Thanks Blush

beckstar - I take my baby jogger classic on bus all the time and I have bad bad shoulder - much easier to push than the BJCM with a toddler in - tis a breeze. I struggled with BJCM last summer tbh and my lad is a skinny thing (he is almost 3 and a half)

I also have a quest for light use, but I know what you mean about brakes - they need to be kept olied and dirt free as much as poss i find!

maxybrown · 28/02/2011 10:13

hmm although you find mini a pain on the bus so maybe not then? I have no trouble at all on our buses - guess it depends on the buses. I know the buses near my Mums are much more of a pain

nicolamumof3 · 28/02/2011 16:20

i really wouldn't get a mac then beckstar as you will struggle with one hand pushing. yes have pics of 4.5yr old in micralite will put up for you later.

beckstar24 · 28/02/2011 20:29

Thank you all - bought a bargain bjcmicro that I coulnd't not but am sure will end up swapping for micralite eventually Grin [bluch]

Apologies for hijack, does the BJCM fit in the car boot ok?

beckstar24 · 28/02/2011 20:45

Depends on what car - we've a galaxy so fits fine in full boot but also when we've all ceats in it still fits in the boot
