M&P Sola ok on public transport?

Hi,

I've been looking for a relatively small and light pushchair suitable from birth. Don't have a car so will be mostly walking or using public transport.

M&P Sola seems to fit the bill but before I order it, just wanted to check if anyone has had any problems fitting it onto London buses? I keep seeing threads about massive prams that don't fit on buses and don't want to accidently end up with one myself!

Thanks

I have the exact same question. We've already placed a deposit on Sola but now wondering if its manageable on London buses?

The Sola is an average sized pushchair, 60cm wide, 97cm long when up (according to m and p website). As a guide on size generally my Jane Twone Tandem is 61/2cm wide and 97cm long in it's shortest configuration (ie with the front seat at its most upright, handlebar in line with frame) and can be made shorter if necessary by raising the handlebar. Looks from pics like the sola does this too.
However if the Sola is the same size as a tandem, I believe the iCandy Peach Blossom 2 is a very similar length to the Twone and is 60cm wide also, then it is not a compact pushchair.

Not sure which measurement is most crucial on buses, length, width or a combination of both. Smaller things to look at maybe Bugaboo Bee Plus, BabyStyle Oyster, M&P Urbo (if you can live without much suspension) plus a good number of other things that forward face and only parent face with the addition of a carrycot.

Someone else will be along in a moment with more ideas or hopefully experience of sola+bus

I love my sola and in the 13 months I've been using it have used it successfully on buses loads of times. It's a pita to fold up but I generally wait for the next bus instead.

I haven't taken the Sola on a bus, but it's the only pushchair I have managed to wedge coming our of swimming pool changing rooms - and believe me all sorts of pushchairs have done the same test route. It's not one that I would even contemplate taking on a bus because of the length, never mind that I thought it was all round a pretty awful pushchair. There really are loads better pushchairs on the market. For buses I would choose something neat but also ideally that the handle drops down or retracts in eg the Bugaboo Bee or Mutsy Evo. Both park well in small spaces. The Babystyle Oyster is nice and narrow too. Or if you need to fold the pushchair look at one handed fold options like the Baby Joggers, especially the Versa.

Wouldn't recommend a Sola. Doesn't fold very small, and in two pieces unless the seat is forward facing. I also found that the wheels buckled inwards every time I lowered the front off the bus which was irritating.

Got rid of mine and got a BJCM instead.

I loved my Sola, used it several times a week on buses and never had a problem. I'm not in London though. I now have the Urbo which is smaller and fits better on the bus but it's heavier and harder to push.
