Bugaboo Cameleon Owners - a question for you!

Hi,
I really love our bee plus - but sometimes I need a buggy for the beach and the woods too - so I also own a Babyjogger Summit XC (also for snow and ice etc)

I expect to use a pushchair of some sorts until DS is approx 5y old (minimum) because of the distances we walk per day and my lack of car/public transport (and also based on experience of my other children). DS will of course be walking some of the way - but a pushchair of some sorts will still be needed.

DS is average height build.

Is there any way he'd fit into a Cameleon long-term? (anyone else used one up to this physical size?) He'd fit in the Bee+ no prob (because I sat my 6y old in it to check!).

I'm wondering whether to sell the Bee+ and the Babyjogger Summit to buy a Cameleon - if it would cover all roles (city/country/up to age 5y).

The advantage would be to only have the one pushchair (because our house is small!) - and to always have the parent facing option (which I don't get with the babyjogger). Is the Cameleon really rugged enough for a rough pebbly beach - or through the woods off the track and do you think it would perform this role well with a pre-schooler if necessary? (we are talking walks of up to 8 miles at weekends, and 6+ miles a day monday to friday).

Is the Cameleon the best all round option?

To be honest I dont think the cameleon would be the greatest option for what you need it for. It would be better if you purchased the snow wheels but still not great!! I also think a larger child looks silly stuffed in a cameleon. I have a 3 year old and theres no way Id take her out in the cam as it just looks stupid! Id probably stick with what you have to be honest but if you do want the luxury of rear facing for offroad Id try something else. You could always get a second hand one from ebay to trial it and if it didnt work for you then sell it on as they do hold their value well. There are also bargains to be had sometimes, I got a BNIB 2010 cam for £297 delivered!!! Sorry to not have been more positive :)

ok. That is really helpful. I'll look at second hand but only if a bargain. Where did you find your bargain new in box one? Ebay?

I agree I don't think the cam would be a good replacement for both.

Yes, ebay....Have had a few bargain buy from there (also a few bad apples though!!) Glad someone agreed as was wondering if perhaps Id been a bit harsh and negative :)

did you still get the warranty buying the new one off ebay? I'm going to keep my eye out for a bargain!

Well, just to say - against all advice - I've got a Cameleon now! Grin
I looked at loads of videos - and looked at lots of pics - seeking out pics of larger kids in it purposely to see.
I've just finished assembling it - bloody hell that was quite an event!

I'm just about to get DS up from his nap to try out his new "wheels"!
I am impressed by the size of the underseat basket so far (have got a lot of ebay stuff to post - to pay CC bill for new Cameleon!).

DH is off work sick today so was here when the courier delivered it. He has been rolling his eyes - shaking his head - and wondering "what's so special about this one - and will it be on eBay next week?"! Bear Blush
We are also wondering if it'll fit in the car boot (never mind - we have a roof box!). Wink
I will be out of the "dog house" when I have sold the other five prams!!! Shock
