Mclaren Quest - is this the right choice for 2nd buggy

Made the rookie mistake of buying the bells and whistles travel system. We are going on hols in a few months time and I need a nice reasonable buggy to take, and also I would hope to use for more than holidays ( at this point, I still don't want to admit total defeat and say that this will be our everyday buggy, but it probably will!).
Am I doing the right thing in buying the Mclaren Quest for this purpose?

i love love love macarens, they are easy to push, fold, manouver. they are great and would reccomend them every time.

i would use it for more than just hols as they are so much more expensive than just a cheapie stroller and you might find that you liek it more than the travel system for ease of use (i did!)

We were in exactly the same position and went for the mclaren. It's brilliant, no regrets at all. Very sturdy, light and folds smallish.

TheSkiingGardener · 09/01/2011 14:06

Oh, forgot to say, it is now the first choice buggy except when we expect him to be asleep in his car seat on a short trip which clips on to the big one, or for full day trips when the extra luggage space of the big one is needed.

I loathe my quest Sad

It's not nice to push at all, ds feels 10 tonne in it, the handles are foam and feel horrid, it tips up all the time and it doesn't recline.

How about a baby jogger city mini?

5inthebed · 09/01/2011 16:23

I prefered my baby jogger city mini to the quest tbh. Quests are only really good for light children.

Also, the BJCM has a fantastic hood, great for covering your child from the sun.

I had a quest that I used for DS1 and DS2, unitl I accisentally ran over it with the car (not with a child in I hasten to add). I have nothing bad to say about it.

I'm now pg with DC3 and as well as my proper big pushchair I will need another stroller. I look at others that are a bit cheaper, but I think I will end up buying another quest.

Eactly right for what you want it for, I hate quests as I am tall and have huge and tall children but they are perfect for holidays. I have a brand new one (too many buggies already) I will be sticking on ebay later if you are interested as would be cheaper on here??

5inthebed · 09/01/2011 19:53

Carrie, if Udderly doesn't want the quest can I have dibs please? My sister is wanting a stroller for Dneice and this would be ideal for her.

ENormaSnob · 09/01/2011 19:55

Hi carrie and 5in Grin

Are you still in the shed?

5inthebed · 09/01/2011 21:15

Yep,but nobody ever comes in there now

carrielou2007 · 09/01/2011 21:16

Hello you two's!!! Mine is the green apples quest but not the 'very' one, this is from Kiddicare (has it on the box just to be sure) the one I got when they reduced them from 150 to 100, never used so wanting 100 posted I did read back yesterday about your news 5inthebed Smile

jollyma · 09/01/2011 21:21

I dont like the quest because the leg support doesn't stay up so its not good for sleeping in. However, it has served 2 ds's, done loads of miles, at least twenty flights, etc and other than a squeaky wheel is still going strong so was excellent value for money.

5inthebed · 09/01/2011 21:23

Will ask my sister Carrie. Was hoping it was the Very one actually, but shall ask her anyway.

Udderly · 09/01/2011 21:24

I'm not in the uk so I won't take you up on it carrielou, but thank you very much for the offer!!! Thanks to all of you for the advice. The babyjogger is lovely, but out of my price range for a 2nd buggy. I think I am happy enough to go with the Quest following all of your advice!

Udderly, the quest is lovely!! you will adore it after a bulky heavy travel system. I love love love maclarens. Never be tempted to buy a cheaper make they just don't push like a mac and won't last!! Enjoy the maclaren.

etta81 · 13/01/2011 15:55

Maclaren quest - brilliant. With my first child I made the mistake of buying a cheap stroller from Mamas & papas after spending a small fortune on a travel system (which i hated after a few months use!!)so didn't want to fork out another £150 for a maclaren. Anyway, it was crap and had to be replaced twice before they finally agreed to a full refund. I then made the sensible decision to buy the quest and have never looked back!

Even after buying the rather expensive Phil & Teds Vibe V2 when baby number 2 came along I still find myself preferring to use the maclaren when it's just me & my youngest. Not that I tell my husband this, he'd go mad if he knew, after spending £700 on what is now my 5th pushchair!!!!!!

They've brought out a limited edition Beatles Yellow Submarine version, and seeing as my husband is a huge Beatles fan I'm hoping he'll let me have one!! I somehow doubt it though!!!
