Hi there

I'm expecting my baby in May and am so confused about where to start regarding a good travel/pushchair system.

I've narrowed my options to:

  1. Mothercare Xtreme Travel System - Grey Mist
  1. City Bug Travel System Yellow/Grey
  1. Maclaren Techno XLR pushchair - black & champagne
  1. Cosatto Swift Lite Supa Stroller (In Crowd)
  1. Graco Mirage Travel System in Orbit
  1. Mamas and Papas 03 Sport Pushchair - Tundra
  1. Quinny Speedi 3 Wheel Stroller - Raven

I wondered if anyone has/has used any of the above and whether you can recommend any, or even an alternative option if not the above?

My main requirements are:

As light as possible
To include a car seat (for a VW Polo)
To be able to fit into the boot (for a VW Polo)
To cost no more than £300, or there abouts!

Thank you so much for any tips/advice/help you can give, I am one confused mummy to be!

Jx

probably the Maclaren techno XLR from your list but better than that I'd say a baby jogger city mini then you can get the car seat adaptor and appropriate car seat that fits. I think the three wheel design is nippier to push. I prefer the single bar handle bar to two separate handles as can then easily push one handed. It's more stable and less tippable when you hang bags on it. The shopping basket beneath is much roomier and stronger. It is lighter than the Maclaren. The fabrics and frame are higher quality in my opinion. The seat is wider on the baby jogger city mini and the back rest is longer. You can get a proper carry cot on a baby jogger city mini. Etc etc.

I also think the baby jogger is more comfortable for a child long term as they get bigger. Also take a look on youtube at the superfast fold on the baby jogger. It is so convenient to use whether you walk everywhere, town or country, use public transport or drive mostly. It's the best all round pushchair. Also folds small and light enough for holidays but is strong and durable enough for daily use. The smart mothers choice in my opinion. Some buggy's out there are built no better than dolly prams! Look carefully at the quality. Baby jogger have good front wheel suspension and ballbearing wheels which run very smoothly.

The most important criteria for any pushchair is that your baby faces you! It's safer and enhances communication. My daughter is now 18 months and still faces me in the pushchair, and her language is far more advanced than that of her peers

My daughter was in the bottom seat of her Phil and Teds and was talking in fluent sentences at 2. Yes, it's lovely to have a rear-facer but as long as you interact with your child they will develop at their own rate regardless of what direction they face

As to OP I reckon Maclaren out of that lot too - but Baby Jogger or Micralite would also be worth a look - especially as can have carry cot for Micralite for lay back pram and takes maxi cosi car seats which I've found the easiest to use - and folds relatively small - see here

I have the O3 Sport. It has many good points but it is heavy and does not fold up small.

Haven't seen one with a car seat attached but I think it is possible.

I got mine when dd2 was about 8 or 9 months old so no experience of it for a newborn.

It is lovely to push though and great over rough ground. The seat is huge and has an excellent recline.

Looking at your criteria, I'd go for the Maclaren. If you get the carrycot then she can face you when she is very little. I'm not sure I agree with Mooer though, not unless you plan on spending hours and hours walking around and ignoring your child just because she's facing away from you.

None of them tbh.

Willhave a think and get back to you.

for what you want agree with beckstar have a look at the superlite. I plan to use my micralite superlite with carrycot for DC4 due in the summer.

Also the RF issue is totally a personal thing, nothing to get hung up on unless your dc is going to spend hours a day in a pushchair!! Grin I think its nicer for us parents to be able to see them more than anything.
