snow chains for prams

Hi, Does anyone know if there is such a thing as snow grippers or chains for prams and pushchairs? Last year it was like trying to plough the snow just getting to the bus stop, and i thought that as there are countries that have regular heavy snowfall there must be a company somewhere that thought of this. Any ideas?

We just used the sledge. Much easier than a buggy. My large three wheeler was infinitely easier to push than my friends umbrella fold was though.

Use a sledge or a sling/ backpack if you fall you arms will save you and the baby if you slip with a pushchair you will set go of the pushchair.

My stroller fits on the sledge- get some funny looks but it works! After falling last winter I don't fancy falling whilst he is in a sling :)

i am an avid sling user but i would not necessarily recommend carrying a baby on your back in slippy conditions. My dc is over 2y old and i would worry about the extra weight on my back possibly resulting in me becoming more unbalanced in the event of slipping over. Certainly if i slipped back and landed on him this would lead to serious injuries for my dc.

i have a baby jogger summit xc which coped with snow over a foot deep, ice and slush without any difficulty at all. This pram is very stable and sturdy without being heavy. I have the wrist strap on so if i did slip and let go the buggy would not go far. I use it with the alvi outlast space technology snuggle bag all from www.pushchairs.co.UK and all represents excellent value for money in my opinion. I don't drive so a good pushchair that keeps my child safe and comfortable whatever the weather is essential. Especially for the six miles we walk per day!

You will love it! Especially in extremes of weather. The generous hood is great in all weathers and i only need the rain cover on if it's a real power shower. I find the three wheel suspension fab. It really helps on lumpy uneven ice, as does the handbrake for control of speed on a slippery slope. The huge rear wheels give greater clearance from the ground than a lot of other all terrain buggys. I've added a bumper bar and bump-a-loop bar cover off ebay to mine.

ooooooh, it's just arrived but i have had to stop mid build to feed DD2, am liking it so far though and from what you say i reckon it will be just the job

How well does this work pushing the SleighPram up or down hills? I have adapted a sledge to fit my stroller too, but my wife won't let me take it for a test ride, been paranoid I would slip over or loose control on steep slopes in icy conditions. I have "yak-trax" grips on my shoes for this, though.

My emmaljunga classic works really well in the snow (even with a buggy board & 3y/o on it) though the spokes fill up with snow which then melts all over the floor! Apart from that it's been well worth the £50 it cost
