Pliko Pramette - pram mode queries

Hi,

We've just purchase a pramette for LO which is due in 7 weeks. Just trying to figure out the pram mode - seems like there's no harness attached, is this necessary? Anyone know if it's possible to buy one if so? Also I guess we'll need a liner/mattress or something to go on top of the built in base - or is it possible to use the footmuff which came with it? ALthough that looks a bit holey when laid down (holes are for the harness when its in buggy mode.)

Oh and also the backrest can be felt through the built in mattress and feels pretty hard - although I guess will only be LO's feet going there, but doesn't seem like the comfiest? Unless we've set it up wrong..

Thanks for any words of wisdom - It's a minefield!

Honestly if you've still got the receipt I'd take it back.
We used ours for the first 4 weeks and sold it on ebay for exactly the reasons you've described, we bought the newborn liner but you could still feel the harness and backrest.
We also found the baby's feet were above his head due to the angle of the pram.
Not what you wanted to hear I'm sure, but if the wheels haven't been on the rubber yet you might not loose £100 like we did.

Hey,

There is no harness when using it in pram mode, should not cause a problem just be careful when going up and down kurbs! You prob won't be using as a prammette until 6 months like you can with a hard bodied carrycot as just too small so then bubs would be forward facing using the harness. You could use a liner if you like, a sheepskin is nice and cosy or a 'nest' like you can get for bee, poshbugs and snunkie make some fantastic ones or just a blanket to snug it up with the apron bit of the pram poppered on. Can't find any pics of mine in prammettes even though I've had about 6!! Good luck Smile

I used a graco/mothercare soft carrycot (can pick up fairly cheap on ebay) in our pramette as i didnt like the shape of it for newborn. I left the material round the normal way for pushchair and just turned the hood round, the graco soft carrycot has a wedge under the head end and fits perfectly in the seat part making it completely flat. Also has clips underneath to secure in place and just in the right place to clip to the d-rings in the seat. I then just used the pramette apron over the top (didnt use the zip on one with the carrycot) and no-one would have know it wasnt meant for it!
Also when we did use it in pramette mode i got a peice of foam (about 1.5 inches thick) and cut it to fit under the flap/the area where the childs bottom would go and when the material was turned round into pramette mode it made it much flatter and more comfy plus covered the harness so baby couldnt feel it.

Hope all this makes sense, im not great at axplaining! Anyway sound like a faff but both quick and easy to do and pretty cheap too. I have had loads of pramettes and absolutely love them but the newborn part is a bit naff with a litle modifing but totally do-able to make it nice and comfy.

It seems a bit wrong that you pay £300 for a pram and then have to buy additional stuff to make it useable.

I know what you mean, but i always liked them and fold faily small so handy for people who want a pram but have a small car or not a great deal of storage space! I felt the little extras i used made the pram worth while having.

I only like the first version though with the bumpy wheels, found the newer one much heavier and want keen on the feel of the handles at all

Thanks guys,

Gonna keep hold of it I think - I really like it apart from those points. I agree tho, it is bad to spend £300 on a pram and still need to spend more! Just seen that M&P do pramette sheets which are padded, bit expensive at £30 but think I may give them a go. Should be able to manage without the harnesses I think.

Our pramette is 5 years old so maybe a bit different. Ok it isn't completely flat when in pram mode but it was fine (d3 has just gone into pushchair mode. Don't wsate money on sheets and liners, a folded cot blanket makes it nice and comfy. You do not need the harness in pram mode, that's very handy as it makes it easy to put baby in. In pushchair mode the harness is great as it doesn't fasten the dc to the back and lets them sit up if they want to .

something the Nan's have pointed out to me as well -do I need a waterproof mattress/sheet underneath incase of leaks? I don't even know if babies do that anymore - think I read that nappies are so good nowadays not really necessary - anyone else bother? Or is it easy enough to take off the cover and wash?

swap it before it is too late! they are lovely for newborns but push like a tank with a 1 year old it, really regret buying mine, and the build quiality is pants too so the resale value on ebay is terrible!get a britax vigour, or a bugaboo bee plus, or a baby jogger city mini instead. but if you must test out the pramette save the money for your lighter weight buggy and buy one for peanuts on ebay.
here

I honestly would take it back you are throwing good money after bad.
But in answer to your question yes baby's leak at both ends so you have to do alot of washing, of everything.
